Last weeks Boxing News, in Britain, said that Jorge Linares could next defend against Israel Vasquez (after his fight on the DLH bill). They didn't name a source, or have a quote from anybody, and the story was only about 3 lines long. Could anybody see this happening, and if so who would you pick to emerge triumphant?
Bad fight for Vazquez. He should never leave the SBW division. He'd be a small FW who just took a serious beating in 3 cruel fights even if he won the trilogy in the end. Linares is a young, skilled, big, strong, powerful and very accurate boxer, he would very seriously hurt Vazquez who doesn't deserve a beating. Vazquez should fight Arce, that a good one. Even the JMM fight makes more sense at FW, since at 34, JMM is not capable of hurting Israel the was a young lion like Linares could - and Vazquez vs. JMM is one hell of a superfight!
Linares would seriously hurt Vasquez and cause the fight to be stopped within 8 or so. This is worse than the "Israel Vasquez vs Marco Antonio Barrera" rumor.
not sure if its a good fight for Izzy, but I had to pick between the 2 (Vazquez/Linares, Vazquez/Arce), I would much rather see him fight Linares. Vazquez vs. Arce would be more one-sided than Vaz vs. Linares.
