    Appreciation Thread
Jorge Luis Linares Palencia is a 31 year old 5'8.5 Lightweight with a 41-3 27 KO's record, all 3 losses by KO. Born in Barinas, Venezuela and fighting out of Tokyo, Japan. Trained by Freddie Roach Jorge is not only an incredibly entertaining fighter but also happens tone of the most skilled fighters in the sport, he has amazing punch placement beautiful combinations, very good footwork, brilliant overall technique and natural athleticism. However Jorge seems to have nothing but bad luck when fighting Mexicans, against all other ethnicities he fares pretty well. Although in my opinion his last two KO losses aren't as bad as many make them out to be, he was winning the match against DeMarco up until the unfortunate stoppage in the 11th, and even then he fought with one of the nastiest cuts I've ever seen, literally his nose looked like it was an open tin can and still he persevered and never went down. Then the subsequent cut stoppage against Sergio Thompson seemed to further seal his fate as a "loser", which to me was also unfair because that stoppage was ridiculously premature, he went down and got right back up, he wasn't very badly hurt. In spite of all of his bouts of very bad luck Jorge keeps coming back like a true Latino Warrior and never lets it get the best of him. So you be the judge is he a loser or not, I don't think so. I think Jorge still has what it takes to be a breakout star.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg
He's also a very good looking guy, and doesn't get credit for that either. No H***:D

Good boxer, just not dedicated enough to his craft. Spoke with one of his former trainers before...said his talent is amazing. Problem is that Linares realized this and didn't work as hard, instead relying on his talent. Still like watching him fight but I always think "what could have been" yanno...

Linares at his best is an amazing fighter. Shaky chin. Not dedicated. Talent wise he could be a p4p top ten. Similar to khan.

    He's not underrated.

He has lost big to all of the best fighters he has faced.

EDIT: I take that back. He did defeat Gamaliel Diaz and I forgot he beat Oscar Larios.

People give Linares too much credit for being so athletic. Sure, he looks great on a heavy bag or on the mitts. But against serious opposition relative to his hype and ranking, he folds like a chair. Imagine if he ever tried to "clear out a division" with back to back fights with top 10 opponents as was surely expected and hoped for from him... He was simply overrated from the start. And nothing has happened to change that since he started getting TKO'd.

Linares V DeMarco was a great fight! Showed a lot of heart and didn't lose a round. Very fluid fighter would love to see a rematch with DeMarco.

If DeMarco beats Vargas to win a belt, I'd expect it...

I expect Demarco to beat Vargas.
And if it happens Linares to beat Figueroa, although his chin worries me.

I'd like to see Demarco rematch Linares and Molina.

He reminds me a bit of Amir Khan. Talented chap but let down by a glass chin, and perhaps worse for him than Khan, he also has a paper face.

    DeMarco is faded.

    Vargas will impress against him.

    (my opinion)

DeMarco didn't look great against Tyner, but Vargas has never impressed me, he barely beat Novikov, but Arum will make sure Jessie wins if its close.
