Well you know Schaefer very publicly refused to work with Arum. Arum then publicly called Oscar a moron. After Schaefer was fired Oscar actually called Bob and they agreed to work together after that. GBP doesn’t have that many fighters any more, since Schaefer let all their contracts expire.

So I think the rift is mostly healed now. But Bob now is with ESPN and sometimes Showtime, and is publicly feuding with HBO. So GBP’s lack of fighters, and the network relationships makes for fewer opportunities for Top Rank and Golden Boy to work together.

Well, in one of the interviews (a couple of months ago) Bob Arum said that there's no animosity between him and Oscar. And I believe him, because Arum was quite genuine and not politically correct that day — just a couple of minutes later he called Al Haymon "a very bad man" (or even "a piece of sh*t", I don't remember now the exact phrase ).
So, yeah, they're competitors now, have different (very often opposite) commercial interests — that part I can understand. But what about this "Arum needs to call ... " bullsh*t? Golden Boy even invented (and used quite extensible) a hashtag — #BobcallEric
Wtf was that?

I read a rather interesting article about ESPNs move to boxing. (cant find it atm)
Seems they are testing the waters since ESPNs revenue is slowly going down but the the fees for football and other sports are going up.
But boxing is cheap atm.

 

Its an excellent fight for Loma who should be the favorite considering he is the much better boxer. Its a terrible shame he left SFW without becoming the man at SFW.

 

Do you know what each fighter drew in their last fights?

 

Loma-Rigo average 1.7 mil on ESPN. Also heard it peaked at 2.1 mil, but not sure about that. But the 1.7 did not include streaming and ESPN Deportes.
Prior to that, Loma was making 800k on HBO.
