I have it about 60/40 in favor of Gamboa. What people seem to forget is the mayor thing that Gamboa has never fought above 6 rounds, let alone 10 rounds; let alone 12 rounds! Based on skills (technique, footwork, reflexes, counter-punch ability) Gamboa has a (big) edge IMO. But those 12 rounds people. It is a proces to learn how you have to use your energy over those 12 rounds. Gamboa is blasting away in the first few rounds of each fight. Right now Gamboa can beat Linares in a 6, maybe 8 rounder imo. Over 12 rounds gamboa will lose. However in the (near) future that can change:good
He seems to really dislike being backed up and put under pressure , Linares has got talent but is a lucky boy Injin Chi had to retire . Close fight this(as Gamboa is still quite inexperienced in the pro ranks and lacking rounds) but I'd favour Gamboa as I feel all round he's the better fighter . Not quite sure on Linares chin , if it's solid Gamboa decision if not Gamboa stoppage .
Gamboa to Judah like Linares to Floyd?... No way. Gamboa to prime Mosley (at lightweight) is like Linares to Floyd. Gamboa has everything he needs to be p4p no. 1. I haven't seen this kind of handspeed in featherweight previously, his workrate and KO-power is amazing... and in addition his defence is great (it would be better if he used his hands as well...), his chin seems to be OK. Simply amazing. He reminds me the young and really unstoppable Roy Jones Jr. But... he is even harder... I think late 2008 Gamboa beats Linares in a convincing fashion.
