Eh, I tend to take most of what's said on Twitter with a grain of salt, even Asian Boxing sometimes. People tend to go into hysterics over the littlest most insignificant things. I watched the 4th and 10th rounds. Linares got hurt momentarily by leaping left hook in the fourth, but recovered immediately and came back to win the round with far cleaner punches and some really nice body work. I've no idea what anybody's talking about when it comes to the 10th, Linares won it walking away, literally. Yeah he was on the back foot, but it wasn't running, panicking or scrambling. Just stepping back and countering him when he came in.

    Here you go Sir.

Damn, Toyogon is a damn good punching bag. Didn't even look like going down. Linares just got tired hitting this kid flush and not put a dent on him.

    How so?
Because Loma gets credit for beating him?

I have never really seen anyone hype Linares since Thompson did him in. Most seem to acknowledge that he is among the most talented, but they also accept his flaws.

And Asian boxing went a bit overboard there. Linares looked sharp, fast, accurate and had lapses in defense; as he always has. But he has slowed down a bit over the years, which is natural given his age.
Toyogon made it ugly by trying to drag Linares into a brawl. But don't let the reports fool you, the kid was completely outclassed. However he did get stunned in the 4th. They traded punches and Linares at a solid left hook which he didn't see coming. That's Linares for you. He loves to just stand in front of his opponents. Big reason why he has been KTFO so many times. He stays on the line.

And if Linares had fought the entire fight the way he did in the 10th, he would have had a much easier night. Most of Toyogon's success came from up close, something Linares enabled to happen way too much. In the 10th Linares circled the ring and picked of Toyogon from the outside, something that stopped the young one in his tracks.

Indeed Linares looked very sharp may I add crispy.

Toyogon to his credit took all the shots and wore them impressively well which may surprise some in fact it certainly did me, taking all those shots flush without going down.

To address you question. Well, it's just a personal opinion of mine. I just think he is overrated. Not everybody is a fan of Linares . I do believe he is overrated by many of his adoring fans.

His best work was fighting them English lads which is the primary reason he rose back up in the limelight after taking 3 brutal losses in the prime of his career. Credit to him for coming back and making a name for himself.

Linares is what he is.. a skilful athletic fighter with poor punch resistance .. I think he probably fights the Selby Burns winner next.. & as for this fight it was pretty pointless other than he needed some rounds back under his belt & a bit of a confidence builder.. he's still got something to offer at LW but Loma & that ill judged LWW jump has probably ended him as a serious threat to highly regarded LWs now..
