This is a BW I really didn´t watch too much.....only a couple of fights years ago, and that was it.

I´m going to watch Lujan again and I was wondering what people here in Classic have to say about this fighter ?

I'd love to see his fight with Davila. I've only ever seen him against Zamora and Pedroza.

Saw his fight with Davila today,As a fighter he didnt do anything spectacular but was a solid boxer with good skills and good accuracy didnt have a big punch but was capable of scoring ko's mostly by wearing fighters down, had a very good chin and fought well off the ropes, beat some quality fighters like Davila, Cardona and the hard hitting Alfonso Zamora to win the WBA title in what was for me his most impressive performance from the fights i have seen of him which arent much(just four).

His fight with Zamora is just brilliant. I havent seen the fight but I always get the feeling Davila should have beaten him.

A good counter-puncher with a great chin is the bane of every heavy-fisted slugger. Waht was Zamora's people thinkng. Some of the best counter-punching displays have been:

    Lujan-Zamora
    Ali-Foreman
    Quarry-Lyle
    Quarry-Foster
    Castillo-Pimental
    Starling-Honeyghan
    Sanchez-Lopez

I felt he was pretty poor against Chandler.

His fight with Pedroza is very entertaining and he gives a good account of himself. Admittedly Pedroza is already fading fast, but he's still offensively all there. Lujan had some brilliant moments.

Good crafty, awkward fighter with a great chin(as mentioned).

Just not quite sharp enough technically or physically gifted enough to be among the better boxer-punchers and stylists at his weight.More a tricky spoiler than a truly gifted ring mechanic but not a fighter to be taken too lightly.

Davila wasnt busy or aggressive enough against him.Showed his tendency to be one-paced there and his shorter reach allied to Lujan's caginess made it a big problem. One i might try and rewatch though, as i do remember it being close.

Good chance a pre-Zarate version of Zamora would have ground out a win against him imo.

I think Zamora put it together well though, which was a better idea 'cause if he'd just tried to steam through Lujan it wouldn't have worked either. Set his shots up as well as he ever did in this fight IMO. Might've been he'd always fall to bits against a bigger guy who knows his way around and the ring and can take his shot.

Obviously he never regained his aura post-Zarate. Still, Lujan proved his beard the hard way.

    d #2 in my modern 118 list .

4 every knock u will give me on Lujan , i will give u 2 on your favorite 1 .

I already watched him vs Zamora , Pedroza and Chandler .
Lujan is never less than competitive against any1 that he fought .
Those whom might b claimed 2 have fought a better list of opponents than he had , got stopped more than once , Lujan was never stopped despite fighting a world title fight @ 122 and a world title fight @ 126 .

Some1 here mentioned that Pedroza was faded against him .
Pedroza was 29 2 Lujan's 30 and very few fought more 15 rounders more than Lujan , and again , he still never got stopped .

I bet his "loss" in his title fight @ 122 was due 2 him fighting in d other guy's country , and not a real loss .

    Lujan should have been a longer reigning champion @ 118 and a titlist @ 122 .

Lujan wasn't a great physical talent but he did have impressive counter punching instincts, excellent accuracy, and great combination punching along with an intuitive ability to avoid getting hit with more than one punch at a time.

If there's a knock on him its that he could be too passive on occasions when he should have been more assertive.

Lujan was aggressive , always assertive , never passive and in his worst moments remained competitive .

His aggressiveness and activity r impressive 4 a 12 rd fighter but even more 4 a man whom had so many 15 rounders .

I saw his fight with Pintor. From memory Pintor dominated him, it's over 30 years since I saw it though.

At least it is a self explanatory post .

I would have watched another 15 rds of him just 2 watch more of him and prove u wrong again .

No way that Pintor domin8ed him
