So this fight is taking place this Saturday at the Shark Fights event. Who do you guys this takes it? Masvidal is one of my favorite prospects in MMA. He is best known for being put to sleep via inverted triangle choke by Toby Imada, but he has defeated the likes of Kitaoka, Joe Lauzon, Yves Edwards, and Ryan Shultz. He is only 25 and shows a lot of potential, and win over Daley would really propel his career forward. I will definitely be pulling for him come Saturday, but Daley is going to be a very tough fight. He is likely motivated to make it back into the UFC despite what Dana has said about the unlikeliness of his return. No matter who wins, this fight will be fireworks. I'm picking Daley, and that is purely because of bias as I know little of Masvidal. Gotta back my fellow Brit! Masvidal looks like a very good prospect though(if you can still call him that after 25 or so fights) and like you said this should be a very entertaining fight. In fact, that Shark fights card looks very good for a small promotion. Jardine/Prangley, Sokoujou/Alexander, plus Joey Villasenor and Brock Larson. Not bad!
**** i once saw a video of a street fight with Masvidal and long time ago fighting this big ass dude and gave it to the dude. Kimbo was in the video and everything. This kid Masvidal is a SOLID striker. If Daley gets the win it will be a very good win on his resume, but if masavidal win i wont be surprised at all, expect this fight to be fireworks.
oh yea off topic but that crazy inverted submission loss to Imada is some ugly **** to have on your resume
Shark have put together a good card Light Heavyweight bout: Keith Jardine vs. Trevor Prangle Light Heavyweight bout: Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou vs. Houston Alexander Welterweight bout: Paul Daley vs. Jorge Masvidal Middleweight bout: Joey Villasenor vs. Danillo Villefort Welterweight bout: Brock Larson vs. Tarec Saffiedine
I'm really looking forward to this fight. Both guys like to stand and bang so barring an early KO or a cut or something, I can't envision this being anything other than a war. Masvidal is an animal, check out this vid of him knocking out Yves Edwards if you haven't already. Great fight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8hx3cO-Hn0[/ame]
Daley has more of an arsenal of punches and from all angles. He utilizes the left hook to the body and throws combination punches exceptionally well. Masvidal is out gunned here. He has good power, but key difference is Daley's work rate and overall standup skill.
