Close? Fine, as Postol did most of his work with just the jab. And Ramirez did land some power.
But close enough that it could have gone to Raimirez? Can you honestly say that the MD was justified? I don´t think so.
IMO, 114-114 was best case for Raimirez, but he still got the W...

I once said it was like six jabs to a punch it's the other way around now every jab counts more and it'll continue moving around according to who people want to win

    I... what?
I was talking about the fight in general.
Can you honestly say that Ramirez won 7 rounds that night?

''I'm glad that I can win ugly sometimes (ROFL), because at the end of the day it's just about winning, right?

''I'm just saying, man, every cut I got is a headbutt or an elbow. Every single one.

''But that's why there's a third man in the ring (ROFL)''

''All these are either blatant headbutts or elbows, literally blatant. Not one of these was from a punch''

"We expected this kind of fight with Bika," Ward said. "Every laceration I have was literally [from] a headbutt or an elbow. I clearly remember each one of them. That's what you get when you fight a guy like Sakio."

---Andre Ward after the Bika fight

''At the end of the day, boxing is already a tough enough business to not have to put up with illegal blows.

''I don't mind the occasional foul if it's an accident but the intentional stuff I just can't put up with it''

    --Andre Ward

R1: Ramirez landing flush with his hook, but few and far between. Postol popping a sharp jab, turning with Ramirez's shots and moving well. Clear round for the Ice Man.

R2: JCR again, landing isolated shots, but Postol's steady jab dictating pace and range, and showing some excellent fundamentals. His 1-3-2 keeps Ramirez at bay.

R3: JCR upping the ante, and really overextending himself. Postol shutting him down, and putting on an absolute clinic in terms of defensive positioning.

R4: Much, much closer. First one I can see for Ramirez, as he really upped his workrate here and made Postol uncomfortable. He also bit on every single feint that Postol attempted.

This is an excellent fight so far. Ramirez's shifting method of ring cutting is GGG-esque, and his left hook to the body is excellent. Postol looks a million dollars. I loved how in the fourth he started feinting like **** as to keep Ramirez honest. The way he drew a jab from Ramirez before nailing him with 2-3 and then a jab after he moved off. Beautiful stuff.

R5: Less active round here, but Postol did better throughout. Close, but clear for Postol IMO.

R6: Ramirez working a short right hand over the jab, and now his pressure is getting more and more effective. VP still boxing him, but Ramirez is out-hustling him and working well.

R7: Clear JCR round. Postol's tactics have clearly changed from out-boxing to running, and now he's fighting much more negative whilst Ramirez tees off on him and clearly out-works Postol.

R8: Ramirez 10-9. Momentum clearly shifted now, but Postol looked better in 8 than he did 7.

R9: Battle or the jabs here, Postol's better jab wins the round.

R10: Ramirez back to out-working Postol, Postol keeping it close with his defence and jab but not doing enough IMO.

R11: JCR still just piling on pressure, but here Postol comes back with his 1-2 and is moving off. He even traded hooks a little, and made it very close. For me, Ramirez's higher workrate won it.

R12: Razor thin round, I gave it to JCR, again because of his workrate. Postol boxed well again, and kinda sums up most of the fight in this round. Ramirez being the aggressor, Postol shutting him down partially, and both men giving and receiving.

    Round 1: 10-9 Ramírez close

Postol doing a great job boxing off the backfoot using his range and frame. He's landing some jabs, 1,2s and straight shots to the body but Ramírez walks him down and is able to capitalize in the third minute. He's landing some nice shots there and shut down Postols offense. Close round. Postol throwing nothing for like 40-50 seconds in the last minute wasn't a great look at all.

    Round 1: 10-9 Ramírez close
    Round 2: 10-9 Postol

Beautiful jabs by Postol early, Ramírez clips him with a left hook in return. More jabs from Postol and another left hook lands for Ramírez. Postol landing the jab constantly and Ramírez punches either getting blocked or missing. Ramírez landing a nice body shot in the last minute and getting a slight reaction.

    Round 1: 10-9 Ramírez close
    Round 2: 10-9 Postol
    Round 3: 10-9 Ramírez

Ramírez plodding forward and missing a lot but having more success than in Round 2 + shutting down Postols offense. Postol finding his rythm in the second minute but getting clipped by a left hook. Ramírez having a lot of success in the last minute, landing jabs, uppercuts and left hooks. He's cornering Postol and unloading but Postol going right into the clinch. Big right hand for Ramírez right at the bell. Decent round for Ramírez, Postol not able to find his range and the jab, getting outworked.

    Round 1: 10-9 Ramírez close
    Round 2: 10-9 Postol
    Round 3: 10-9 Ramírez
    Round 4: 10-9 Postol close

Ramírez eating some jabs early but raising the pressure and getting overly aggressive. Postol working the jab well but getting caught in some head to head exchanges where Ramírez scores. Close round. I like the way Postol scored with the jab constantly. Ramírez had his moments though.
