I'm hearing a ton of excuses from Flores' corner. But... he was sick, but... it was hot. But... Lopez beat his ass and so will Montoya.:deal:

Martínez seems a little blown up, but he's doing the right thing here - slowing the pace down, keeping a jab thumping into the bridge of Stubbs' nose, and lathering up little by little as his energy replenishes. Unloaded on Stubbs in a corner at one point but as soon as it became obvious the opponent had weathered most of the storm, Martínez backed off to regroup. Decent instincts.

    Round 1 Martinez 10-9
    Round 2 Martinez 10-9
    Round 3 Stubbs 10-8
    Round 4 Martinez 10-9
    Round 5 Martinez 10-9

Martinez blew his load going for the stoppage. Still pretty one sided.

Stubbs has earned himself a couple gigs as "a decent test" opponent for prospects if nothing else.

Stubbs could score one more knockdown in the last minute here and still only walk away with a draw (that'd make it 56-56 on my card - more likely we're heading for a unanimous slate of 58-55 in Martínez's favor). He pretty much hasn't offered anything serious outside that one perfectly timed combo.

More overrated: Tom Brady himself, or the "Man in the Arena" speech by Teddy Roosevelt, long a tired sports cliché, that lent its name to ESPN's documentary on him?
