Sánchez Jr. is keeping the long southpaw jab to fore, stretching it lackadaisically to set a low pace. Gemino obliges, for his part, staying outside and rubbernecking with his right glove positioned up by his ear to catch whichever jabs he doesn't slip. Very little happening. Feeling one another out.

Gemino is 0-2 in his prior visits to Mexico, and was knocked out last time by Daniel Rosas - but so was Sánchez Jr. himself (down at super flyweight, six years ago)

 

This is clearly a confidence builder for Zurdo after his loss to César Juárez.

No other reason for this kind of matchmaking. Baki the Disaster has almost no chance here, disadvantaged in every category imaginable.

 

Ooh, nice short overhand right by Gemino as the bell sounds to close the 2nd after being stalked in orbit and jabbed from long range for nearly three minutes.

Sánchez Jr. is tripling his jab into thin air. Gemino is ducking and rolling on the outside, keeping himself a few paces out beyond Sánchez Jr.'s reach. Gemino is waving the jab up in Sánchez Jr.'s line of vision and then swooping in with quick right straights & uppercuts on the chin.

I just read that Sánchez Jr. was supposed to face Albert Pagara in the Philippines (would've been a huge opportunity to regain momentum after the Juárez loss) but ducked him to instead have a lower-grade Pinoy imported to Mexico. :think
