he has some good head movement but he relies to much on reflexes at times

Ummmm what exactly do you think head movement when someone throwing punches at you is?

There's plenty of quality boxers without the head movement that Aldo has tbh.

Be interesting to see how he'd do in pure boxing where he only has to look out for punches instead of all the other strikes he has to deal with in MMA.

somewhat i spose, he's young and very fast, hopefully he doesn't rely on his reflexes too much which will decline with age ala roy jones jr, but then look at anderson, 35 yrs old and some of the best/fastest head movement in mma

Aldo is serious. Interesting to see who stops him. Awesome striker with some wrestling and jits. As long as he keeps improving, he has unlimited potential. 155 is probably where his legacy will really be made - Edgar, Maynard etc

even Anderson will slow down and his reflexes will not be as great too after a while, it all depends on the fighter Muhammad Alis reflexes where also great when he was 32-33 not as good as they was when he was younger but still great but then come the fights against Larry Holmes and Trevor Berbick he looked like those dead cows that rocky beat on in the movie

Even when his reflexes slow down his technique looks good enough that if he is smart, he will fight past his sell by date. As long as he can strip away some of the flashy knees and danger moves then he can rely on a good jab, picking his shots well, pacing himself etc

Yeah when you slow down it becomes harder, I never get this mythic talk of Mayweather being so text book....as its normally referred to the what i call the 'Roy Jones Jnr syndrome' apparently Roy was never skilful or technically brilliant and relied on physical abilities which led to him getting knock-out later in his career yet ive heard alot of people say this wont happen to Floyd if he slows down........Im like it will happen to anyone if they slow down, Floyd relies on reflexes and speed and agility and more.

Anyhow rant over, and yes Floyd is more technical but alongside that is insane speed.

Same for Aldo, quick but he is displaying awesome head movement.

2 types of head movement - reflex and predictive. If you are too slow to gauge your opponents punch, speed, angle etc then you need to use predictive head movement. This is when you see guys trying to predict what shot is coming so their head is already moving before a punch has been thrown. Some guys just concentrate on one head movement i.e. slip to their right. This makes it easier to execute the move successfully.

oh no, he wouldnt want to have a career like roy jones jnr would he, his reflexes got him to 8 world title wins, maybe those reflexes have allowed rjj to fight to the age he has, a lot of fighter with out those reflexes would have retired years ago. What a stupid comment saying he relys on his reflexes too much, his reflexes make him the fighter he is, why bother defending kicks and punches when you can just use reflex to slip them or move out the way.

He is one guy that I could honestly see finding great success as a boxer if he decided to switch over. He's ****in' incredible. Way more talented than a guy like Ricardo Mayorga who became World Champion and knocked out highly ranked pd 4 pd Vernon Forrest.
