Absolute monstrosity. Even having rooted hard against Brown, the little hitch in his voice during that interview tugs at the heartstrings. The guy's going to bawl in the locker room. All class and humility in the public eye. He was a good champ. :good Jose Aldo will be a great (and long-reigning) one. VIVA JUNIOR
I was hoping Brown would pull it out but after I saw the take down defense of Aldo I knew that Brown had nothing for him. Kind of a bad way to go out.
Actually, thanks for that, it had slipped my mind, had I been playing FIFA like normal at that hour on a Wednesday I would have missed the "welcome to the Aldo era!" realization.
Had to run the old lady off the set, she didn't realize there was a fight in the middle of the week and started spouting some rubbish about the new Top Chef. "It'll be On Demand, ***** - scram"
Are you ******ed? Torres a hype job? So when Aldo eventually loses will he be a hype job? That is assuming he goes on even half the run Torres did. I honestly wish MMA fans weren't allowed to post without an adult supervising them.
Torres may in hindsight be less dimensional than Aldo (who'd have thunk it just a year ago!), but it still takes a special bantamweight who has his number stylistically, like Bowles, to overcome his few dimensions. He's formidable and his record speaks for itself.. Honestly, Torres vs. Aldo has been a wet dream of mine for several months, and still is - although now it seems the end would likely come in much quicker and more brutal fashion. :yep
He certainly is. I wanted MB to win, unfortunately, that never happened. Jose Aldo is seasoned way beyond his years. He fought a very intelligent fight. His game at only 23 is incredibly versatile and will only continue to improve. The finnish was just ruthless. Completely mauled him, just overpowered him. And that's not easy to do as Mike Brown's a terrific fighter. You just know how hard Aldo hits, whether it's leg kicks or flying knees, he's a powerhouse. He'll take some stopping.
But I'm sure I saw an advert say 20th. When are big fights on a wednesday! Gonna go watch a replay now.
It was originally scheduled for 11/11/09, but bumped back a week to 11/18/09. In either event it was always scheduled to be on a Wednesday. :yep WEC did this at least one other time to my memory. Usually they're on Sundays. :think Versus giving them the runaround and forcing them to work around their broadcast schedule? Would be unwise. This has to be among their highest rated programming next to hockey, unless people actually watch hunting shows and Sports Soup.
Oh shut the **** up with your constant whining. That was tongue-in-cheek. Torres was a very good fighter, but not nearly as good as he was made out to be. People jumping the gun and putting him top 5 P4P were out of their minds. He didn't beat nearly the quality of opposition to merit such a status. He looked pretty awful in the Mizugaki bout just prior to getting pasted by Bowles, mainly because he just wasn't capable of dealing with pressure. He was very good technically against fighters that fought at his pace, but he couldn't handle the heat the way a top 5 fighter should be able to. He was a bit like the Cristian Mijares of MMA. I just didn't take such a liking to him.
