Did u see Aldo Mendes ??? You DO NOT beat a man of the caliber of Jose Aldo by pressing him on the cage Hominick to name but one has much much better boxing than Frankie Edgar and Aldo put him over on several occasions WITH BOXING :deal Aldo does not have cardio problems , have u been watching a different Jose Aldo ??? :huh
I wouldnt exactly call it gassed, this was the fight was it not that Aldo almost never made weight and was ill ???
Hominick didn't show me better boxing than I see from Edgar. Maybe I am over analyzing, or maybe you missed the Hominick fight where he gassed bad. He was lucky it was Hominick in there with him and not somebody with finishing ground and pound. I thought he lost some steam against Florian as well. Yes I saw him KO Mendes. That fight didn't go past the first round. Maybe you should look a little closer. Aldo sucks wind early in his fights. He still wins them, but against a higher caliber opponent, it could be a deciding factor. Edgar will be his toughest opponent to date in my opinion. I am a big Aldo fan, I just notice little things in his game. I still favor Aldo, I am just saying that if he gasses against Edgar, things will get interesting.
This. Hominick does have better boxing than Edgar. And Aldo owned him on his feet. The 5th round of that fight has been overplayed. Aldo soundly beat Hominick and beat him up in the process. I don't know for sure, but are Mendes and Edgar on the same level wrestling? because Mendes struggled and failed to get the fight to the ground. I think Edgar's only chance here is if he is able to get him to the groud for the 1st and 2nd round and lay on him. That will tire Aldo out I assume. I am predicting Aldo to knock Frankie out standing though. Prob hurt him in the first. Finish him in the 2nd. :deal
Mendes has better wrestling credentials than Frankie, but there isn't a fighter currently that is better at using his TD's to set up striking opportunities, and vice versa. Except maybe GSP. I got Aldo, but this will definitely be the toughest fight of his career. I mean, he's fighting the LW Champion.
Hominick's boxing is boxing, its crisp, its accurate, its technically correct and designed to cause damage, Edgar's boxing is flick, point scoring style boxing, he doesnt extend or twist his hip into anything or seldom looks to actually hurt someone, there boxing is on different level's, i used Mark Hominick as an example because he is the most obvious choice of Aldo's opponents who clearly has better boxing ability than Edgar, there are more including Uriah Faber who can box (pure box) better than Franky When you use dynamic movements such as Aldo does your going to suck wind occasionally, Aldo does not have a gas problem, i mean yes he's faded slightly in fights before but Aldo's 60% pace is most fighters 80-90%, plus while he is fresh he causes a lot of damage Aldo for me should move to 55, clearly 45 is hurting him and has done for some time, i expect what ever happens after Edgar he may move up
Chad Mendes does have better credentials as a wrestler, but like Will Munny says, few have a better wrestling for MMA game than Franky Edgar Aldo is notoriously difficult to TD, and Franky will almost certainly eat something big on the feet and some leg kicks, i honestly think Franky needs to go to his wrestling straight away and allow Aldo nothing on the feet, a lot like Sonnen applied himself against Anderson Silva If he looks to surgically pick a TD and decides to strike with Aldo, its going to end bad
