Benavidez destroyed him verbally calling him out for being a cry baby and a punk. I have to say Mall ain't lookin so good I think that homeboy is cooked. There should be some tasty odds on Jose considering he is a blown up welterweight

It's a shame the WBC strap ain't on the line for this one. Charlo hasn't been in the ring in two and a half years, and now he's coming back and it's not even to defend his title. Don't got anything against him personally, and I wish him all the best when it comes to overcoming his mental health struggles, but there isn't any reason he should continue to hold onto that title if he doesn't intend on defending it.

I mean, I know at the end of the day the titles aren't really a big deal as long as good fights get made. But that title could help elevate the profile of a fighter who actually is active. Just isn't fair he's keeping that possibility from happening for someone, especially since I'm sure the WBC would be more than happy to order him as an immediate mandatory whenever he felt like coming back for it.

Feel kinda bad saying it, but it's partially because of that I'm rooting against him, though also because I could see a loss actually end up being a good thing for him. I feel like it would make him drop the belt and step away til he can straighten out, or be just the kick in the pants he needs to make himself active in the sport again.

Either way, feel like we're in for some fights that are gonna deliver more than we think on the 25th. Gonna be a good night :ggg

Mall should have some shame and just vacate the title himself but you can't expect a punk like that to do the right thing.

If only Jose fought as well as he talks.

I would love nothing more than to see Charlo take an L, but he is knocking Benevidez out. Jose has no mobility anymore.

Completely agree. The WBC for sure have some blame to take in this for allowing the situation to continue, but Jermall should've dropped it as soon as he realized he wasn't going to be stepping into the ring anytime soon.

What makes it especially egregious is that there's a perfectly reasonable solution where everybody wins. The WBC could have easily made him franchise champion or champion in recess or whatever the hell they're using now, and made him mandatory for the belt when/if he was ready to come back. Charlo gets to keep calling himself champion despite not doing anything, the WBC get a champion that actually fights so they can get their cut from championship fights, and some contenders get their chance to fight for a belt. But apparently that solution made too much sense, so of course it didn't happen. Which is funny, considering the exact same thing was done a few years back when Canelo was the champ and Charlo was interim

At the very least he should be willing to have it on the line for his first fight in two and a half ****ing years. Might seem like I'm being extra hard on the guy, but there's absolutely no reason he needs to provide a roadblock for someone who could use the raise in profile that comes from holding a title.

It's an outrage that Benavidez could win and not be given the straps.

It's not a goddamn exhibition bout FFS.

The Charlo brothers are a cancer on the sport.

That trash talk was funny. I’d like to see Jose beat him. Given Chalros been out for 2.5 years and is a head case I believe it’s a possibility.

Just saw this today myself & he did get him there a few times over but still i see Jermall beating him in the end eventually, this is seen as more of a tune up for him by his carefully instructed advisors & at the same time throwing a bone to Davids brother making both guys happy really.
