Jose Benavidez is a 22 year old 6'0 Light Welterweight with a 20-0(1)He Lost to Herrera. 14 KO's record. He was the youngest ever Golden Gloves Champion at 16 and is the son of boxing trainer Jose Benavidez Sr. He has a 120-5 amateur record, 11 time National Champion 2 of which were Silver Gloves. He has incredible skills far more than many other come forward Mexican fighters he signed by Arum the moment he turned pro and has so far sparred with the likes of Pacquiao, Khan, Porter and Bradley which I'm sure has been very beneficial in his development as a fighter. Some have compared him to Floyd which I think is a bit much, but you never know where the next big thing will come from. He has a huge task ahead of him in defeating wily, rugged, slick, pain in the ass that is Mauricio Herrera on Dec 13 but we will get to see how real he is. So how do you like this former Roach pupil. Check him Out.:bbb:bbb:bbb:bbb

I think that an awfully big step up, and I think he may be biting off more than he can chew, I like him but I think Herrera is better

I think the left hook to the body is key against Herrera.

One of the most beautiful jabs in the sport today. Very talented fighter doing the right thing taking it slowly no rush with this kid. He got hurt in a fight in last round few fights back though but i'll wait for the chincheckers to comment :)

Benevidez was getting MAD hype before the Pavel fight. He looked shaky in that fight and a lot of people hopped off the hype train.

I think the kid is a great fighter.

Remember hearing about him years ago, so have kept an eye out for him.

Herrera will be a tough tough test.

Talented but as others have said, the Pavel Miranda fight has left huge questions over his chin and durabilty

People are giving him grief over nothing. I've watched him pretty much since he turned pro; he's as good of a prospect as you could hope for.

Very few guys have gone pro with so much hype in recent years.

Hopefully he lives up to the hype.
His younger brother David has done a similar thing of going pro very young.

Had to fight his first few fights in Mexico because he was too young to fight in the States.
