I like this kid as a boxer-puncher, I really do. Seldom do fighters nowadays commit to the jab the way this kid does. It's sharp, its fast and it delivers with pop to deter opponents. This kid does have a problem with his defense though, he doesn't really have much outside of constantly circling his opponent. He fights tall but he doesn't use his legs for movement/positioning, etc.

He also committed a cardinal sin last night against his opponent.....never ever go into cruise mode against a mexican warrior......try that **** again against someone like Rios and your done. You got the damn talent and skills to put your opponent out and on his ass you do it. This fight is 8 rounds not 12 put some effort in.

I think his father has taken him as far as he can from a training perspective, its time to move to a different trainer.

Thoughts everyone...I'll get back to ya after football.

Agree, he has horroble defense, he just goes backwards in lineal position, no bending, he doesnt move the head, nothing, last time i watched him fight, i was pretty dissapointed

Ortiz syndrome except there is still time to move to someone else.. I was there live and that shot the Mexican landed echoed the stadium the Mexican kid put in good work to the body and kept hinting his prey till that huge shot landed... Benavidez has the Ortiz defense circle the ring backwards which is not good at all.

Doesn't have a killer instict at all. He beat up his opponent pretty bad in every round but wasn't even close to stop him. I mean got almost KO'd in last and that is what happens when you can't finnish the fight that you should. He was amazing in early rounds and looked superb but he really started to frustrate me cause he had no killer instict at all.

And when you have no defence: You have no counter punching! Just like Khan and Linares as you mentioned!

roach is not a defense minded trainer, this kid is not going to go far unless he fixes his problems

Idk why he even attempted to train with Roach. He needs to go with Steward or maybe even Garcia.
