Fought the other day admittedly against a can but looked great for only his 13th pro bout, also he's the youngest ever golden gloves champ(16) and the youngest fighter the Nevada state commission let turn pro (17) had a 120-5 amateur record and is 13-0 with 12 KO's, he's only 19 and damn good I believe he trains at the wildcard gym as well. I think he's the goods though he hasn't perfected his craft yet he's young and hasn't had many fight's I consider him a top prospect and think he might be something special in the future what are your guys thoughts? also he has a knack for landing his right cross right on the tip of the chin he's pretty accurate with his punches.
Here's a video if anyone missed it: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x0CSCkPT7E[/ame] This content is protected
hes huge for that weight. hes fast, and has power. uses good foot work. keeps it up, will be a star some day
Check this out too - the pre-fight series Momentum about Team Benavidez [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2ztSHrGr-w[/ame]
Thanks man lol one of the commentators said it and it's true as hell his dad looks like only 2 years older than him. Anyhow gonna keep trying to hype a great prospect everyone should watch ...will probably be buried under the damned Floyd threads which everyone seems to need to post their opinion on and then create 5 more threads about it...
Thanks - we keep his facebook updated with all kinds of links and news. www.facebook.com/josebenavidezjr And yeah, Benavidez Sr. does look young
I dont do facebook and stuff like that but that's cool him and Mikey Garcia are my Mexican prospects to watch ive been a boxing fan a long time now in my short life compared to others, watching prospects develop and sometimes become greats is my favorite thing in the world I mean I love watching the great champs fight but seeing a fighter you like develop into one of the best in the world is what it's all about. I think Jose has that potential.
Big fan of his. Maybe the best prospect out there, and almost certainly the best U.S. prospect. Some other kids get a lot more hype, but someday I can see Benavidez vs. Frankie Gomez being a huge fight, although I suspect Benavidez will outgrow the weight quicker than Gomez. FYI, while he used to train at Wild Card, he split from there about 6 or so months ago. Basically, Roach wasn't actually spending any time with him, and since his dad was basically training him anyway, they decided to move back closer to home where his dad now officially trains him full time.
