it's weird. i never got how successful he was/is. his footwork with the crossing of his legs, the way he hangs his chin when he throws, thumb up jab, his hooks coming from the arms, his cross always being crooked. flapping his uppercut. it's like 10 year old putting on his gloves for the first time and throwing against a punch bag. it's mad.

He had/has a decent ring IQ and at the lower weights he had phisycal advantages that he utilized well. 72½″ reach at 130 and even 135 is not something you see that often.

 

I was always impressed with Rances. In fact, I am surprised he wasn't more successful than he was. I viewed him as very talented but seemingly unmotivated at times. Hard to figure. At this stage, of course, he is too shopworn.
