With his sad return to the scheduled, it got me wondering. Has he done enough to get in the hall of fame. I think yes!
I would be far more strict. By my standards it would be hit or miss if he makes the HOF. As it he is, he almost certainly will.
Don't take my view on it as I'm pretty biased as he is one of my favorite all time fighters. An old time fighter fighting in modern times. Truthfully he ain't an ATG but he is surely a HOFer.
Sure Hall of Famer in my book... although that isn't saying much considering the guys who are already in it. But the guys has definitely achieved some level of greatness throught his years as a pro. You can't deny him that.
Castillo was a hell of a warrior but I think he falls short of ATG or HOF status. If he is a HOFer then Hatton will have fought 4 future HOFers: Tzsyu, Castillo, PBF and Pac.
Fringe HOF'er. Carrying on when he is clearly shot to bits isn't helping. He will probably win his next two fights and get a title shot.... the way the alphabelts work.
he is a decent fighter, thats it tho. He really shouldnt be in the hall of fame because he had some battles..gatti had battles and he shouldnt be in the hall of fame.
Go take a look at the names in the Boxing Hall of Fame and tell me that Castillo doesn't beloing in there. ****, with the Boxing Hall of fame as is it wouldn't surprise me if a guy like Arturo Gatti got in much less a guy like Castillo. Jose Luis Castillo has been the greatest lightweight we've had in recent years. He was just widely overlooked for most of his proffessional years because of his early career losses and his sometimes ugly style. But just take a gander at his resume; Wins over Diego Corrales, Julio Diaz, Cesar Bazan, Juan Lazcano, Stevie Johnston, Joel Casamayor, and arguably beat Floyd Mayweather the 1st time according to many people. Give the man his due respect.
