He didn't get nothing of his share from the Hatton fight aswell as the last few fights he had. When he fought Mayweather he was still somewhat unknown and probably didn't make that much.
He looked awful..A shell of his lightweight days. Lujian isnt bad on his day..but Castillo shouldnt have been beaten that badly, just proves he is past it.
The sad thing is, if Chico were still alive, he'd be in the same situation: fighting long after it was time for him to hang up the gloves, simply because he needs the money. Chico's finances were a mess when he died. JLC and Corrales probably would have faced each other again in an attempt to cash in on the legend of their first two fights.
He hurt Lujan with a right hook in the 2nd round and maybe could have got him out if he pressured but except that he was outlanded and outthrown badly. He was almost KO'd in the 9th,caught on the ropes and his head was like a rag doll like in the first Corrales fight only he managed to get away.
I absolutely love Castillo but wish he would never step foot in a ring again. Like the great Erik Morales, a totally washed up legend.
You're probably right. Both guys would have been faded versions of what they were earlier, so it would probably be an even match. If it was at 147 where both guys could make the weight, it probably would have made decent money.
Always sad to see great fighters carry on fighting for whatever reason when they are well past their primes. :-((
Well he didn't get anything as I recall for not making weight the first time(or at least anything major) but for the second time he got a big ass 250000 dollar fine, suspended for the rest of 2006(so he couldn't fight to make the money),wasn't allowed to fight under 140 lbs and the Corrales family sued him taking 90% of his earnings from his last fights(Ngoudjo,Hatton,Casillas,Lujan)
