Jose Luis Castillo vs Esteban De Jesus (lightweight)

    I thought Castillo got away w/ some questionable decisions of his own vs. elite boxers though. I thought he was lucky to get any better than a draw vs. an aging Casamayor & could've lost @ least 1 of the Stevie Johnston fights as well.

    Also worth noting is that DeJesus was an adept infighter in addition to being a skilled boxer.

    Casamayor might’ve been nearing the end of his prime, but I wouldn’t describe him as past it. I think he was around De Jesus’ level and both were better than Stevie. I’d have more confidence in De Jesus if he’d won a 140 belt or beaten some good names there.

    No neck, if the bout is scheduled at 135, why would dejesus winning anything at 140 give you greater confidence?

    Because Castillo was the size of a 140 fighter from back then if not in his own era.

    I like what’s best for the fighters. I believe the current trend of infrequent fights for larger purses and day before weigh ins is ultimately better for their bank accounts and health.
