I'm convinced those people have never seen a prime JLC only the old one that fought a couple of weeks ago. Like you said a prime JLC would walk right thru him.:yep
Castillo by TKO. Pacquiao can't fight off the backfoot to save his life, and he'd be facing a bigger, stronger pressure fighter with a great chin who'd rough him up, force him backwards, and beat him up on the inside.
He's not more complete than Castillo, he's far from being a complete fighter at all. And I'd completely disagree and say Pac's style is tailor-made for Castillo, given his inability to fight going backwards, lack of inside skills when pressed, etc. He's not going to be able to deter Castillo either. Pacquiao would get his ass beaten.
Castillo stopping Corrales in the rematch probably had more to do with the fact that Corrales was shot, completely drained and Castillo coming in overweight for the weigh in(correct me if im wrong about him coming in overweight. Guys with Castillo's style usually eat up slick boxers, because theyd take some to get to the body whilst at the same time slick boxers hates being swarmed. Castillo had stylistic advantage over PBF and with PBF's injured hand, there wasnt much he could do to deter Castillo. Pac has very underrated defense, if he didnt guys like MAB & JMM who are extremely good offensive warriors and FAST too would have had their way, they didnt. Pac's defense extremely underrated, its not textbook defense, its athleticsm. He has fast reflexes and very energetic fast on his feet, he will keep Castillo at range all day long. Pac's power punches are also not like normal slick boxers who punch going backwards thus not much power, nope, each one is gonna be a bomb. It will be like Castillo-Corrales 1, except Pac will be landing in faster combinations Castillo wont see(which will hurt more) and Castillo wont be able to land anywhere near as much punches as he did to Corrales because of Pac's footspeed and reflexes. Even before the Diaz fight I've always maintaned Pac eats come forward pressure fighters all day long. You need great boxing counter skills to beat Pac, both guys (apart form his early losses) who gave him trouble had both and even then, they have to fight a perfect fight all day long. But, thats just my opinion folks. I know Pac would be very heavy underdog on this matchup specially as Castillo is a very established LW.
Whilst I strongly agree with that, I disagree Castillo wouldnt be able to deal with it. Johnson & Mayweather didnt just have textbook skills either, they were great athletes. I would not have a problem saying their athletic ability when used for defense would be better than Pac's. Looking at the Sanchez (to degree) and Morales 1 fights for Pac, they were times were experienced and intelligent fighters dealt with Pac's incredible atheltic ability using what they had. JLC has the ability to do that and is bigger, a lot bigger.
Pac has only fought once at 135 so what do you guys expect? Lets see how he does in his next fights, THEN we can really decide who is the victor in this matchup
The sanchez fight was a joke, it wasnt a boxing match, that was UFC. Sanchez nearly broke Pac's knees. Morales fights totally different from Castillo. He used his height, his jab and boxing skills from a range and time Pac well. I dont think Castillo is anywhere near the boxer Morales is, he has other qualities over Morales but not the qualities needed to beat Pac. His biggest asset in the fight is his chin, but even a rock will break if hit often enough. Mayweather fought with an injured hand and at the time, pretty inexperienced too as he didnt know how to deal with pressure fighters too well. He tried potshotting Castillo which obviously didnt deter Castillo as there was no power in those punches at all. Pac would set his feet down, land a 5 punch combination (with serious power), then jump out of range again. Castillo will definitely land on Pac, but not often enough.
If the 135 lbs version of Manny faces the 135 version of JLC, the one who fought Chico Corrales, I'd say the chances are very high of a JLC mid round TKO win. Just too big. Too hard a puncher. Too hard a chin. Pac might also win, but the odds are slim.
Mayweather really wasnt that inexperienced if at all, that fight was only like 5 years ago. He was about 25, a former champion with 27 fights to his name and with a distinguished international amatuer career behind him. The second fight showed the first wasnt a fluke. Though I dont put a whole lot of faith in punchstats, Castillo landed more and was more accurate in the first fight than Mayweather was. Which says a bit for his skills, I dont think he is the boxer Morales was either but thats not really the point. I said it that post they used what they had Sanchez was rough and physical..Morales well... was just Morales. My point is JLC can box and has shown this several times but the way he turns fights into a physical contest is what he is good at. No way does Castillo let Pac do that to him. I truly think you are transplanting Diaz into you memories for Castillo. JLC would not just stand there and let Pac tee off, he would counter him and cut of the ring so Pac couldnt just jump back a reset. Anyways its a fight thats open to debate and certainly think it would be hard fought for whoever would win it.
i don't know, pac has only fought once at this weight:huh he look very impressive against diaz but its hard to pick pac who like i just said only fought once in this weight, every fighter performs differently in regards to weight thats why we all know the best jones was the 168lb version. So i say JLC would take this one(prime JLC of course)..
PBF has never fought a fighter as tough and hard punching as Castillo who puts on presurre just as well, thats what I meant by inexperienced. He has since learnt how to deal with pressure quite well, take a look at PBF-Hatton. PBF & Pac 2 different fighters again. PBF fought running back, Pac would be there to land his bombs but obviously trying to get out of the way. Both have speed and power but Pac throws something like 5 power punch combinations, PBF threw lead right hands with not much behind them whilst moving back. His in & out motion in the ring will help alot against that style of fighter, Pac has he styles advantage. It wont be as extreme as Diaz because Castillo has much better defense and handspeed. It'll be simmilar in a way the fight is fought, just brought at a much higher level. I think Pac UD's Castillo 8-4. The best counterpunchers in MAB & JMM had a tough time countering Pac, I doubt Castillo would simply counter him. Pac doesnt fight scared so he wont feel the pressure as most slick boxers do.
