Here's a very weird fight (contested at 154!) that I bet plenty on here have never seen. It wasn't an important fight in the grand scheme of things, but I find it a very intriguing one all the same. Tell me this isn't the definition of a crafty, scrappy vet using every trick in his book to upset and unhinge his younger opponent. Lopez was only 23 years old. Vaca was absolutely ancient, 37 with an entire career of fights already behind him. Vaca had already been stopped in over a dozen fights before this one. Check out how the iron chinned Lopez has to deal with another type of adversity... an unexpected, badly swollen eye. Vaca is as game as the day is long... Imagine if every boxer that stepped into the ring with that kind of will and fortitude? Pretty remarkable stuff to hang tough as long as he did. Enjoy the fight!
