DeLaHoya would be too elusive for the plodding Lopez Using his boxing ability, Oscar would not be lured into a slugging match. Which pretty much would be Lopez' only hope of victory.

Strange how both these guys were avoided in the 90's.

Stories abound on how James Page dropped Hoya hard in sparring.

Lopez had Page himself down twice but still lost because of his complete lack of activity at times.

Actuallly, Lopez against Either, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga or Pipino Cuevas would be a much better slugfest. Pure fireworks!!

I wanted this fight to happen and thought Lopez had the chance for the upset win. A live underdog in a bout like this and the guy had a concrete chin and a nasty left hook in there. But winning decisions over Bob Arums top draws is never ever going to be easy and Lopez would have to get DLH off his feet a few times to have any hope on the scorecards. I could also picture Lopez winning a bout like this and then dropping a decision & losing the title to a nobody within his next 2 bouts. But he could rise up and win a big fight 1 time.
