    Another great post, I love the way he fights. A said thing, I saw Napoles selling ties in a restaurant. What a fight napoles and Carlos Ortiz would've been

    Thanks for posting, I like that the video shows you exactly what to pay attention to, that way I can appreciate his work at normal speed. What a natural, will have to look up more of him. I know he is rated amongst the greatest welters in history and it isn't hard to see why.

    I asked in your Griffith thread - Is the Napoles/Griffith fight worth a watch or is there a better recommendation for either? Have been thinking about the video above all day at work, I want to see an entire fight and preferably versus an elite opponent?

    The quality of the Napoles-Griffith vid that I saw on YT isn't in very good condition but it's worth a watch, as uncomfortable as it may be,...but there's also the 1st bout with Cokes which is a must see, as well as the two Ernie Lopez bouts, especially the rematch and that fight ending right uppercut that just destroyed poor Indian Red, there's the Cokes rematch, but I'm not sure if it's in it's entirety,...the rematch with Backus is out there, and of course there's that massacre of Alfredo Urbina ll. In short, everything you can get hold of with Napoles is worth watching...though try the Griffith and 1st Cokes bouts for starters.

    The Griffith fight's condition is especially regrettable, as Napoles neatly outboxed and outfoxed EG, which is saying something...I know Griffith was coming down from middleweight for this bout, but still, it was a Class A win for Mantequilla, who showed his clever, skilled side more so than his killer side in this bout. Ringside reports of this bout said it was a revenge sort of thing for Napoles for Griffith's wins over Paret and Rodriquez.

    I just finished the first 2 parts, will finish the other 2 tomorrow. You are not kidding about the quality, the footage cuts just as Napoles drops him (round 2 or 3) - His class is still evident through the grainy footage though. I will go on a binge for the next week, next time we speak I will be a certified Jose Napoles expert!

    Coke's Mgr Doug Lord told me that Cokes was in the 2nd Napoles' fight only for the money. Both Lord & Cokes knew Curtis was way past his prime at that point. Napoles was always respectful of Cokes, even though Jose won big both times.....because Cokes gave him a shot at the title, that he couldn't get at a lower weight, and Fight #1 set a Welterweight Title Fight Gross Proceeds Record that both fighters enjoyed in. Jose liked the cervezas, but was a all-time great fighter.

    Even nearing the end of his career, Napoles was hugely impressive. His beatdown of Lewis, in their second encounter, was as clinical as ever. I don't think Lewis was ever in it.

    That fight gave me a great deal of satisfaction as Lewis was the darling of uber hollywood creep Ryan O'Neal who was seated there at the fight with his daughter Tatum...just sure that their boy Hedge was going to take the old lion, especially after Jose's disasterous encounter with Monzon. Lol, what a rude awakening they both had as Mantequilla reminded them all that he wasn't quite done yet and really trounced Lewis. I thoroughly enjoyed that beatdown....glad you reminded me of it!:ggg
