Here's Eddie's thoughts on the matter. Grain of salt on this one, but still, it's interesting to hear. http://cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/w0202-dh.htm
I explained it above. I exagerated a bit, I do so quite often to clarify my point. I thought the more regular poster as yourself would have gotten that by now.
Pernell outpoints Camacho and makes him look slow. Camacho is extremely overrated. At 130 he was great but after that Rosario took away his will a little and affected him for years.
my2snese, When I saw nothing to brag about, I don't mean it's not a very good resume, all i mean is his resume does not equal his abilities in the ring either. Whitaker gets rated very very highly today by boxing fans, but I don't think he has one of the better resumes for an ATG in history.
To me it's just too close to call, one of them questions where you are always just going to get into subjectivity and therefore it will annoy the life out of you trying to determine an answer.
Every time I watch Jose Napoles, I want to be impressed. I really do. What I see is a very good boxer even a great boxer but I don't think he is as good as advertised. I think Whitaker is the better boxer and has the better resume.
He does everything right for me, personally. I can't point out any glaring weakness about Napoles, other than his tendency to cut easily, which can't be blamed on him. It's about the only reason why I feel hesitant to pick him over the men that I rate above him, as well as his smaller size at WW. I will say that he isn't quite as impressive to watch by the mid 70's though, but I'd blame that on age. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwzTxnJxbrQ[/ame] I recommend to view the whole fight if you haven't yet seen it, the whole fight can be found on youtube with credit for the upload going to fellow poster itrymariti. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBUg_OhdPhY[/ame] I appreciate the defensive artists, but an aggressive yet at the same time a classy and calculating technician is what I find myself respecting the most, and that's what Napoles represents in my opinion.
