This is obviously a very serious post considering Hatton's defensive prowess:

He was made to order because his feet were in cement. Excellent performance by Benitez none the less. As TGA mentioned Cervantes had nightmares with defensive boxer movers, a murderer if you brought the game to him but not so great when he needed to stalk

Someone started a thread 2-3 years talking about the PR promoters, paying off the local commission and Cervantes so they could have Benitez weighing 147lbs and pass it off as 140lbs because he couldn't make weight

Never knew that about Benitez in the Cervantes fight! If so :-(

He didn't even use much lateral movement against Cervantes. He mainly stood within range, jabbing, slipping and countering, etc. to get the job done. He out-boxed Cervantes on his own turf. Similar to Locche. I just don't think Cervantes dealt with slicksters that well, movement or no movement. Then again that could've very well been down to the quality of the opponent. He handled De Jesus with ease (albeit the notably smaller De Jesus), and some (myself not included) would consider him an especially slick/smooth fighter.

Cervantes gets sold short. Its a shame. He was a hell of a fighter.

I'd have no argument with anyone saying he's the greatest ww of all time.

:rofl:roll:...are you serious? Hatton would assume his familar supine position on the canvas, ala his experiences vs mayweather and pac....probably from a right uppercut like the one that destroyed Ernie Lopez.

I lean toward that view, despite being argued with by supporters of SRR, SRL, & Hearns.

Robinson aside, arguably the best WW of all time. Cutting problems aside, a flawless boxing/punching machine. Then again, cutting only mattered against certain opponents.

I think h2h robinson is the daddy at WW, but over a career etc, did anyone really do better than napoles in the division?

    I wouldn't think so.
