Yeah that's how I see it. He'd probably use similar tactics to the Backus 2 bout, actually usin his feet to his right to land some huge left hooks along with right hands (Pacquiao is much better and harder to fight than Backus of course).
Because his whole skillet is based for mid range and on his athleticism. I thought this was obvious? Whenever Pacquaio is inside he usually puts his guard up high, and circles back to center ring, maybe popping a soft off. None of his performances suggest he would use an aggressive skilled inside offense. Pac is a skilled operator but just doesn't box like that.
I might as well throw my own $2 in. Pac is competitive early on, taking the odd round and lunging into his shots which would be less effectively landing as the fight progressed. José would be figuring Pac out and start walking him onto hard shots and sweep the mid rounds, Pac is getting walked down and hit hard constantly before a stoppage late imo. Napoles TKO14 Pryor gets countered stupid and has his whizz slapped outta him. He gives Napoles too many chances imo. Napoles wears down Aaron's iffy jaw for a mid round stoppage. Barney Ross wouldn't know if he was coming or going here imo. Napoles ain't stopping him but he's definitely winning.
I think it's a bit closer with Ross but still clear that Jose is better. Just styles IMO. He's definitely the much greater fighter. I don't think anyone would argue that.
He didn't, but he can definitely be timed for even a flash knockdown. You wouldn't want that with Napoles.
50/50 w Whitaker, can see both playing to their strengths and beating the other on points. Duran is too rough for him imo. He'd bull him around and land as consistently as José but imo would be more comfortable forcing Napoles back than visa versa. Duran (close) UD15. Ike wouldn't land enough imo to win, and his aggression would let Napoles deal with him coming in, getting more respect from Ike and end up taking a Comfortable UD15.
He seemed dazed by Arguello and shot Cervantes, he was hardly Iron. It wasn't bad, just not unbreakable at the highest level.
I've got Napoles beating Ross by UD, Pacman? he loses too. Who did Manny beat who's as good as Naploes.
Well to be fair, who did Napoles fight that was a great as Pac and win? Depends on how you rate that version of old Griffith I suppose. Napoles would win this H2H and stylistically though. But Pac is pretty probably the greater fighter.
