I dont think Griffith was at his best for that fight,he had to come down to a weight he hadn't fought in years and i think that hurt his performance.

If there was ever a guy who was headed for a title, that was Adolph Pruitt..this was a real feather in Napoles' cap, IMO.

Yeah, but it's not like Griffith struggled to make the weight.

Wasn't the first fight stopped due a fractured hand though? I'm aware they rematched but Pruitt may have been past his very best at the time. Napoles however devastated him so I guess it's unlikely the outcome would have been much different "prime for prime", hand injuries or not.

Found an interesting quote while looking at the report for the Locche-Pruitt fight:

"Beginning right now, I'm thinking about Jose Napoles." -Nicolino Locche

How do you people think this fight would've gone?

Would have been very interesting to see if Locche's defense could have stood up to Napoles' sneaky offense. I'm guessing Napoles lands more than vice versa though and takes it somewhat comfortably on the cards, despite being frustrated throughout much of the contest.

Re Perkins-Napoles, I too have heard Perkins claim he was robbed outright. The fight did occur on what you could call Napoles' home turf, but I haven't read anything that I would consider a neutral report on the fight.

I've heard that a rematch was for Napoles' title was considered. I doubt there would have been any interest in a second fight if Napoles did indeed dominate Perkins previously.
