Just out of curiosity, where do you guys rate him all-time, as a fighter, at Welterweight and in an overall pound for pound sense? Look foward to hearing your replies thanks. :good
One of the elite WWs imo, i have him in the vicinity of Robinson, Leonard, Gavilan, Trinidad, and Armstrong at 147. Of the very highest ATGs in that weigt's history imo
He's in my top 5 at WW actually. Pound for pound I haven't yet fleshed out a complete list that I'm totally satisfied with but somewhere in the 30's is pretty deserving I'd say.
In his prime he was an amazing fighter, could do it all box smoothly punch with power. His only weakness was he was cut prone. Other than that he belongs with the elite status of the welterweight division.
Yeah I know. A crazy observation. :nut Don't get me wrong Suzie's a seemingly dead on guy and mostly knows his boxing, he said last night though about Tunney being one dimensional. I really don't get either of those comments, but hey. :huh
Napoles had a beautiful style, was a joy to watch IMO and is easily a top 3 atg welterweight Id have Robinson, Leonard, Napoles and Griffith as my top 4 ww. The likes of Hearns, Armstrong, Duran, Walcott after that
Yeah, agree with most of that. I've got Robinson, Leonard and Armstrong as my Top 3: most of the guys you've mentioned jostling it out for 4th. Naploes just takes it. I'd have Hearns ahead of Griffith, but only a few places appart probably.
Napoles was very smooth calculated and slick, but at times he got too robotic, I think against the gifted speeded guys who could punch like ray robinson and ray leonard, it would spell trouble.
