I haven't seen much of these two, but that is a great summation from what I have seen of them. For those who have seen more of Verdejo - he is explosive and exciting, but when he opens up (which is often) he is very hittable. Does he always fight like this? I'm not saying it will happen, but, if he continues fighting like I have seen him he could end up as another JuanMa.
All excellent points .Pedraza is crafty, smooth and focused in there while Verdejo has that special killer instinct that fans adore. I agree he needs to shorten up the some of those power shots. If and when he refines his already impressive ****nal he will do special things in the ring. JuanMa was awesome at one point but you can already tell this kid has more layers that should lead to a longer shelf life.
Apparently Verdejo wants to move down to 130 to avenge his defeat against Lomachenko. What do you guys think about that? Personally, Lomachenko vs Pedraza is a really intriguing match up between two solid technical boxers. Oh man, I would love to see that after both have a few more fights.
Same reason Verdejo fought Najera last night. Prospects being tested against each other and risking their zeroes in fan-friendly stylistic match-ups is TV GOLD!
Agreed, but Najera was more "expendable", he's already shown a couple of weaknesses in his past bouts.. whereas these are two top notch prospects, but who knows, I wouldn't complain that's for sure if it happened. :deal
I like Verdejo also, first thing we gotta hope is that his hand injury will not be a recurring problem.
