In light of Andy Ruiz's unexpected victory, let's look at ways that Jose Roman could've made history and become the first Hispanic champion. IMO, Roman could've used for movement and stuck George with jabs and right crosses and tied him up in close. He also may have used rope a dope tactics. What do you think?

The first to challenge for it was Luis Firpo, the second Paulino Uzcudun, the third Arturo Godoy, the fourth, if you count Frazier's NYAC title,Manuel Ramos, the fifth Oscar Bonavena.
    The sixth Roman,the seventhEvangelista,the eighth,Ossie Ocasio.
Ruiz is the ninth man to fight for it ,and the first to win it.

Luis Firpo And Oscar Bonavena were both 100% Italian. The parents of both fighters had sailed from Italy before each were born. There was no Native American in either of them at all.

Paulino Uzcudun was a Basque Spaniard. Not Hispanic.

I guess Godoy might be the first then Ramos then Roman then Ocasio.

Maybe you should look up the definition of Hispanic? While you're at it, look up the definition of a"Native American"!

"Definitions in the United States. The U.S. Census Bureau defines the ethnonym Hispanic or Latino to refer to "a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race" and states that Hispanics or Latinos can be of any race, any ancestry, any ethnicity."

People from Spain don't like to be called Hispanic. (LOL)

People from Spain consider themselves up here (holds hand above head) and they consider people from Central and South America down here.

You left out Fres Oquendo. Fought for it twice. Same with Alfredo Evangelista (twice). And John Ruiz (John Ruiz was born in the U.S. just like Andy Ruiz was.)

John Ruiz first language is not Spanish. If you want to count Oquendo's challenger against
Ruiz, he would become the ninth to challenge and Ruiz Jnr the tenth.
Where you are born is not germane to the definition of Hispanic.
