Down in Tijuana, Mexico, Jose Uzcategui fought on the undercard against Rogelio Medina on Saturday 16 feb 2013.

Jose Uzcategui is now 17-0-0 with 13 KOs. Not bad since he debuted in March 2011. All fights at MW - no playing around with weight.

Jose Uzcategui is young, tall and fast. Power is decent. Impossible to tell if got a chin since he was not hit hard enough to be truly tested. The worst thing about him is that his last name is close to unpronounceable.

I can tell you here and now this guy is better than Golovkin's last five opponents. A few more fights and he should be smelling a fight with an opponent with some kind of name value. This guy would probably already be a credible challenge to the lower half of the top-10 of the MW division which currently is populated with aged, overrated and non-active fighters. From the looks of it Pirog has quit boxing, Chavez Jr has no credible plan for remaining in the sport, N'dam has a chin softer than a French cheese, Sturm is declining so fast he should change his name to Breeze, Soliman will be dropped out of the top-10 in his next fight.

If Golovkin's team struggles to find an opponent they should look no further than Mexico - Jose Uzcategui should pose a decent challenge.

Jose Uzcategui - please stay out of jail, stay away from tequila, coke, grass, women and the police. :bbb

Not bad at all, in fact his fundamentals are beautiful. Also, he has an insanely good left hand. Definitely a fighter to watch.

    - But GGG would kill him right now, and here's why: Despite that crushing left, despite the perfect balance, and despite the excellent footwork, his right hand is somewhat slow & sloppy. - Not terrible, but just weak enough that Golovkin would see the openings and counter him into next Thursday.

If he fixes that one hole, he'll be a serious force in the division, no doubt. Definitely let us know when he's fighting next!
