Jose Encarnacion Zepeda is a 5'8 25 year old Welterweight with a 23-0 20 KO's record. Born in Long Beach, California and fighting out of La Puente, California. Zepeda didn't have a very long amateur career his record is a mere 15-1, he's currently fighting for Zanfer Promotions the company Marquez works for, and he's being trained by Roberto Alcazar, De La Hoya's old trainer. He's being moved along slower than some, he's been a pro for 5 years and has 23 matches, which isn't bad but I think they need to start testing the waters with more legit competition, he passed his first pseudo test this year by obliterating oft KO'd journeyman Victor Manuel Cayo far quicker than anyone has before, stopping him brutally in 1 round. He's not the typical come forward Mexican slugger he mixes it up depending on his opponent, he can fight off the backfoot or coming forward and pressuring, he has decent combos and good punch placement and he's pretty damn heavy handed. He didn't look that good from the top couple, point out the fight in which you believe he looks best using a quality of opponent vs. performance factor, thanks.
He's decent, I wouldn't say he's a world beater, its too soon to tell, he looked great KOing Cayo but Cayo isn't that great, I thought he showed a little more skill against Dominguez. But as with most young fighters most of their early opponents tend to be bums.
Yeah don't get me wrong I like these threads but, it's so hard to tell how these guys are gonna develop early on. The special ones you could maybe tell but other than that, it's mostly a waiting game to see how they continue to develop in accordance with their comp...I usually don't start paying attention til they make me pay attention. I'll remember if you showcased one though, lol.
I've done like 220 of these threads:nut I still vary it up and push guys I really believe in, and some I think may be worth keeping an eye just in case but may not be outstanding, he's the latter, but it doesn't hurt to showcase him.
Yeah most likely, but why would he pick this kid of all of Floyd's sparring partners. Its not out of the question.
Whoever it is, I won't believe anything until I see proof, from an outside source or one of Mayweather's people.
They're not gonna say s*** if Floyd didn't perform well, but..... it is Freddie so you have to take every thing he says with a grain of salt.
