Basically all of the quotes below are still my thoughts, maybe one or two have been altered but it's essentially my opinion. SportsLeader had some good ones too but he can find them himself:yep:

I did the exact same with the first fight and wound up missing it live. Wasn't quite the same I must say.

How do you see Moreno-Darchinyan going anyway Jpab?

I'm not sure to be honest, simply because I don't know what stage Darchinyan is at. He's done it a couple of times where he looks great against a good opponent only to appear distinctly average against a guy like Mbamba, who really isn't that good of a fighter. What I do know is that if Moreno wins I'll be adament that Darchinyan is past it. Not past prime - everybody knows that's already the case - but far, far removed from his best.

As Flea said earlier, Moreno has the styles advantage, but that's made kind of redundant when there's levels between the two fighters.

Even then, he still has extremely predictable tendencies that any version of Vic would be able to take advantage of. His circling is non-stop to the right, and while range is his method of defense, he isn't exactly great at maintaining it. 4-5 pitty-pat jabs will be followed by a straight left almost 100% of the time such is his lack of variation, and when he doesn't feel in control he tends to get ragged(and spends time on the inside in the process, where he's a bit inept. Clinching and getting tagged a lot are staples of his) which will only be to his detriment against a guy like Vic.

The good thing for him is that every time he throws a combination he dips to the left, which would see him get dominated by just about every single other top bantam other than Darchinyan, who's badly lacking in the right hand he needs to grasp the opportunity that he'll inevitably be presented with. As a result what he needs to throw is let rip with a left hand while Chemito is throwing, and I think he can achieve that relatively easily. Moreno lacks both the power to dissuade Vic and the variation to keep him guessing. He may have success early but IMO he'll be figured out soon enough, and I can envisage Vic showing the kind of savvy he displayed vs Mijares, evading the straight punches and coming over instantly with his deadly left.

When Darchinyan wobbles him Moreno'll unravel, especially seeing the fact he does that to himself to a certain degree when he misses a couple of times. IMO Darchinyan will start to land with greater consistency and put him to the sword in the mid-late rounds. Moreno's just too easy to read for high-class operators IMO.

I'm hoping Agbeko gets revenge on Mares, looking forward to it. King Kong needs to work off his jab more. I dont think he did enough with his jab to affect Mares output which was impressive in the first fight. He didnt start well and had to deal with all those low-blows so I'd expect him to get an earlier foothold this time and hopefully, well surely the Ref will be stronger on this occasion and take appropriate action if and when Mares strays low. Mares despite all his cheating does have some good skills and a great work ethic too so obviously cant be written off and has scope for improvement. Agbeko seemed flustered with all that went on last time and it affected his rhythm, I expect him to be more ruthless with his gameplan this time, countering Mares and setting up some big, meaningful right-hands. I wont be wagering any money on this one though as there is the chance Mares will recieve favourable scores on the judges cards and I've a feeling there'll be a few notable clashes of heads as Mares steps in to attack the body and Agbeko counters. Tough one, I think Agbeko "wins it" but loses on the scorecards ....
Think Vic gets the win too in his fight, will go for UD in that one.

    Regarding the link Ishy posted:

I like Dave Duenez, I've always got on well with him, feel he knows his stuff, hell, I even worked for him, but he doesn't half talk shite when a Mexican fighter is involved. "Mares fought the perfect fight first time around(excluding the low shots apparently)", really Dave? Really?

Anselmo Moreno is one of the most underrated and under-appreciated fighters in the sport.

Moreno fought the perfect fight, what a performance even if it seemed Vic was just made for him. Very composed and impressive stuff.

Mares did great too from what I saw (9 rounds), will have to catch up with the rest of that one later as I switched to see Rios/Murray. Had seen enough to convince me Mares would take it on the cards.
