He cannot knockout or outpoint any title holder currently and doesnt want to take risks to do so.

I haven't watched Parker vs Joshua the second time because it was so boring but I thought AJ won clearly and easily and I was massively dissaponted in Parker's lack of willing to fight.
Other ones were close imo and that's the problem, there was no clear, noncontroversial win over a quality opposition.

    Here's my scorecard:

I was okay with Joshua getting the decision, but it wasn't as wide as the judges (and many AJ fans) would have us believe. :nono:

Parker's stuck in a rut. He has all the tools but none of the desire to truly take things to the next level. He's probably the most naturally athletic heavyweight in the sport right now, super-fast explosive hands and an iron chin, yet he can't knock out the likes of Razvan Cojanu. Something's seriously wrong in his camp.

    :deal:

He doesn't have the ahleticism or power of a Joshua, nor the ring IQ of a Fury - but he does have greater power and ahleticism than Fury and higher ring IQ than AJ. He doesnt have the handspeed of a Ruiz, but he does have quicker hands than both Fury and Joshua (while he's more athletic and powerful and smarter than Ruiz).

He's probably the most well-rounded guy in the division on paper - like you say, all the requisite tools...which just makes the lack of payoff all the more frustrating. How much of that is his lack of desire versus just crap luck inside the ring and out is subject to conjecture - but yeah, his prime's panning out fairly disappointingly for what he SHOULD be capable of.

All of this big talk is of course predicated on him savaging Winters. If he struggles to a close decision win I'm off the damn bandwagon once and for all. :sisi1

No it wasn't. I had AJ wining 116-112 but there were some close rounds from 7-9 as well which I thought AJ just nicked. It was a fairly close fight.

Parker's following down here has certainly waned especially after the Whyte loss. Hearn also doesn't know what to do with him and would have been better off with Higgins as his main promoter.

Another one that he could've gotten, Whyte. At least one judge had it appropriately close in that one.

It sucks that in all his biggest fights he does just enough to neither super convincingly lose nor super convincingly win. :BangHead:

And if Eddie manages to squander having two h2h top five heavies in his stable and not manuever them into a rematch, he needs to be officially renamed Slow Car. :ohno

In hindsight, Parker would have been better off signing with Hearn or whoever when he had his title. Now, he's got no title and fighting as an undercard fighter in the US against low level opposition by his standards.

I feel that Parker has the tools to beat everyone, but not enough guts or desperation like other fighters. Top bloke and hope to see him fight at the world level soon though. It looks like he's being mismanaged hard.

If Charles Martin is making moves, then Parker and his team have no excuse.

Good thread this. Parker could do with being a little bit more like Wilder in some ways. Sometimes you just have to drop your defense and go for broke, Parker seems too much of a 'this is the plan, the plan will work' sort of guy.

Parker will be remembered for seemingly being back on his feet and rock solid before he even hit the deck after eating a hellacious left hook from Whyte. Great chin.

He really could have been something if Kevin Barry hadn't got his mitts on him.
