If everyone you meet is a loon, if everywhere you go there are loons … maybe you’re the loon.

Here’s where I seriously disagree with you, although it might be quibbling over terms:

On the one hand you say it’s not unreasonable to have Chisora the winner in scoring the fight.

On the other, you say Joyce was jobbed.

To me, those aren’t compatible. To me, jobbed means robbed … it means there’s no reasonable way to give it to the guy who won.

Like I think Ray Leonard beat Hagler. I’ve scored it many times and it always comes out 7-5 in Leonard’s favor for me … BUT if Hagler had won, I wouldn’t say Ray was jobbed because it was a close fight and I can see a reasonable person giving him the nod.

To try to perpetuate the myth that this was some kind of injustice when you admit someone could come up with Chisora as the winner (without being a loon) is intellectually dishonest in my way of thinking.

He should really retire, even though he won he looked beaten up and battered after the Joyce fight.

But if he's going to keep fighting Whyte III and Wilder would be fun fights.

I missed this being out last night, just caught the highlights and can say, DAMN! You goy exactly what you wanted!

Will need to watch the whole thing!

    My immediate thoughts
    1) Joyce has not worked on his defence since Zhang :risas3:
    2) Chisora has the heart of a lion
    3) How heavy handed is Zhang???

Yeah that last one is an eye opener. Chisora hit Joyce so hard the force of the punch took him off his feet but he still got up like nothing had happened and went right at Chisora again. But Zhang face planted Joyce and had him out cold. Zhang has crazy power.

I'll add a 4th point, how good is Parker's chin if he can get up twice from clean shots off Zhang? Parker was stopped by Joyce but I think exhaustion was a clear factor. Parker has fought the hardest hitters in this era and come out unscathed for the most part.

Sounds like Joyce battered a guy for 10 rounds, had him out on his feet for a lot of it, didn't respect ehat was coming back at him, suffered a flash knock down and somehow lost the fight. I saw the first 4 rounds and saw Joyce cruising to a victory whilst taking every desperate Chisora volley on the chin. He looked in charge. What rhe hell happened. I feel bad bummed for him, he shouldn't be losing to Chisora

Sounds like it was a "its what you like" fight with both guys landing plenty, plus the crowd all rooting for Derek in his swansong bout.

I'd sit through a Whyte vs Joyce fight after this. Not interested in Chisora again vs top tier HWs. I'd watch him vs Okolie or some other rake that we want to see roughed up for 10 rounds.

That's exactly what I saw as well, and the pattern continued right up to the end of the fight, only with Derek looking in increasingly dire shape, zombie like in fact, huffing and puffing, being rocked several times, badly staggered and out on his feet for the last three rounds. So if anything Joyce was more in charge, hell he was even easily winning the round he got dropped in. But fans and judges got carried away and blew the three or four overhand rights he'd eat per round out of proportion, desperately wanting him to win handed the fight to him on a silver platter.

I said I thought Joyce won, and was throwing a mercy card to the people that had Derek winning, saying he could have won 95-94 due to the knockdown, and people were super generous. I still think he got jobbed, because all three judges score cards were ridiculously wide, clearly the judges were not interested in scoring it for Joyce. Had it been an SD with three 95-94 cards in both men's favors, I probably wouldn't have said anything. But if it makes you feel better, much to IB's chagrin, I think Leonard won too, and I've never seen any pathway to victory for Hagler.

I know that a bad decision is a bad decision, and if you feel Joyce won, there is no mitigating that. BUT...Chisora has lost so many questionable decisions, that it just seems like a simple law of averages that he has gotten some close ones in the last couple of years.
