No you don't just score fights on who lands more punches judges look at who's landing the more cleaner effective harder punches.

I don't know why you're having such a hard time grasping this it's pretty simple.

I also don't know why I keep having to explain it.

One of the criterias as I've said like 4 times now is "Clean effective punching" and that's why Chisora won aswell as scoring the only knockdown.

Judges look for clean punching if 1 fighter is landing head snapping shots consistently whilst the other fighter is maybe is bit more busy but none of their punches are standing out to the judges.

What do you think is going to catch the eyes of the judges more ?

    It's pretty simple logic.

But its not about what look more effective. Whos punches looks more effective? Fury od Wilder?

Joyce punches looks like easy not clean and end of the day its Joshua the one who was visible heart and fight for life 3 last rounds...

You cant judge someone punches better than other if both land.
If we do that then Maidana win over Mayweather and Wilder and Klitschko win over Fury and other. Zhang win over Hrgovic?

No because end of the day boxing its not about moments. Its about whole round work.

I guess difference in interpretation of this fight its about who value more work and number vs quality.

Yes Chisora got better moments and quality but Joyce was the one who win ring generalship, punching number (land and throw) and was as agresive side in fight.

Chisora got better quality shots and better defence.

All I want to say whole time that for me judges scorecards was to wide and Chisora win this probably because KD in reality. That's all

Chisora legitimately won end of bringing up pointless other examples is just a waste of time.

3 judges had Chisora winning, most ringside observers had Chisora winning, a majority in this thread had Chisora.

I'm not going to keep explaining it it's pretty simple.

Chisora landed the quality shots throughout the entire fight and scored the only knockdown and he clearly deserved to win end of story.

There was also an intangible to Chisora last night that helped sway everyone. He wanted it. He dig deeep. He fought through exhaustion, adversity, pain, and beyond. An unbelievable show of heart.

watching that helps sway judges. And me for sure.

ffs, youre wrong. in amateur boxing it doesn't matter as much if youre punching harder than your opponent, but the pros are different. here, it does matter, and it may be the difference in any fight. you are not playing tag, it is a fight.

Thank you I can't believe why this poster is having such a hard time grasping this.

Judges often look for which fighter is landing the harder cleaner more effective punches that's the name of the game in the professional ranks.

I just watched a highlight of Chisora/Joyce to refresh my memory of what I see last night. And for me it's still clear as day Chisora was landing all the eye catch punches that would've got the attention of any judge who knows what they're looking at.

Amateur boxing is more about pretty boxing and scoring points in professional boxing it's about hurting the other man and knocking him spark out.

You can't compare Amateur scoring to Professional scoring it's totally different.

I had joyce by two points. I was floored by the actual scorecards. Chisora spent much more of the fight backing up and hanging on. He certainly had plenty of good shots and obviously scored that knockdown, but come on.

thats how its always been. except in the beginning, when you fought till someone couldnt fight anymore. pros fight to see who the better man is. judges use certain criteria to determine that in a predetermined time frame, say 12 rds. the criteria is meant to determine who would endure if there were no time limit, doing what they are currently doing. then you cast your vote for each individual rd on who you think is moving closer towards the goal of enduring.

I've only seen the HLs so far, and think chisora won but not as wide as the judges were suggesting. I'll watch the fight in full soon.

Joyce was awful, good amateur, but Chisora showed a pros head movement and landed harder shots.

According to Miller, Joyce had already signed a contract to fight someone on the Usyk vs Fury 2 undercard in December. Wonder if that will go ahead now.

He is too fun to watch for Saudis to pass I reckon. Even while losing on the judges cards against Chisora, he gave the fighting game boss vibe with forward momentum, gas tank, and chin.
