What is your verdict on Parker at this stage, do you think he would be a serious contender to beat Fury, Joshua, Wilder, Usyk etc. if he got it together?

Or do you think that he has been overhyped from day one, and apart from possessing a granite chin was never going to be good enough to mix it with the best in the division?

Some reckon he lost to Ruiz and never should have even picked up the strap in the first place. Some say the same about the Hughie Fury fight, and the first Chisora match as well, but then you have to balance that out with the close loss with Whyte which maybe should have been called a draw in some peoples eyes.

At this point he seems destined to be a Chisora like gatekeeper at best unless something drastically changes.

It's funny how winning a world title from someone who went on to beat AJ is considered either underachieving or not that good.

I like Parker he seems a decent fella. I've just never seen that killer instinct in him in a a few fights lacking the drive to get the job done.

I think he's better than Chisora at least he got a strap although a few of the decisions went his way.

Underachiever for me, fast hands, good chin, decent power, but he's struggling to beat an old gate keeper like Chisora. Sure he won a world title but in an era when Martin, Stiverne and Ruiz can win titles it's not really that great an achievement.

I still think Parker has untapped potential, if he can simply be taught to counter and to pivot off to change angles after punching so he doesn't have to just back up to avoid being countered then he can become more dangerous and we could see a return to those combinations that he had so much success with early in his career rather being reduced to pot shotting with single of double shots like we see now. He's not so old that he can't learn new tricks but it will come down to the quality of his corner and his ability to learn new tricks.

    Don't like either poll choice

He achieved his level a belt holder in the 4 belt era and won what he should win and lost what he should lose

I wouldnt call him no good he just didnt have the stuff to be the best

He's regressed from that though. I think he probably won't even beat Ruiz now.

Joseph Parker has had a great career so far. He’ll never beat Fury or Uysk, but still he’s done far better than most.

    Agree with this!

Parker has all the raw ingredients, but he just comes across as too nice he's never seemed to have that dog/spiteful edge that most really great fighters can call on when the chips are down.

Lacks late fight stamina, grit and roughhousing ability.

For a man with an iron chin he should know how to dogfight better.

    Good attributes, abysmal ring IQ.

I had high hopes for him but he hit his ceiling.

Neither. Former WC with a solid resume with wins over, Ruiz, Chisora, Hughie, Takam and Fa. That's a far better resume than Wilders and I would certainly favour Parker in a potential fight with Wilder.

I thought Parker derservedly won against Ruiz (I scored it 7-5, thought the round were clear cut too) and deservedly won Chisora ( in a great fight ) and against Hughie (in a dreadful fight).

    Whyte derservedly beat Parker though.

I trained with Parker, he’s fast and a hard worker, seen him beat up guys in sparring but it seems like he lost his killer instinct somewhere… I think money made him comfortable and nicer. But, if he find a way to get mean again I think he can get back on top, if he stays Mr Nice guy it’s a chance he just stays as a gate keeper.
