For a guy who doesn’t have the combination punching ability of a Joshua, nor the one punch power of Wilder, nor the size and movement and physicality of a Fury, nor the supreme defence and footwork and southpaw angles of an Usyk, Parker has done very well. he doesn’t do any particular thing exceptionally well but he has exceptional heart and character. Well done.
It’s tough. Much as I dislike Fury’s antics, I can’t help but rate him high. Usyk Joshua Fury Parker Hrgovic
Whereas I respect your opinion, he has not had a meaningful win in two years, and was humiliated in what what was supposed to be a glorified exhibition against a novice. I honestly have a hard time putting him in the top five.
I don’t agree with Hrgovic at 5. All he has done is best zang and no one else, just one top 200 win surely can’t get you ranked so highly for that.
Sheesh, this quickly became about Fury. Tyson is still top 2-3. If he can defeat Usyk he's #1. That will set up Fury vs. the now suddenly fabulous AJ. Recent wins vs. Wallin & Francis is fine n dandy, let's see him in there vs. another top 5-10 HW. How about Filip? Naw, he's to young. AJ has specialized in beating aging fighters past their prime like Wlad. Perhaps he should try to finish Zhang as a top HW. At 40 Zhang is the right age for AJ As for Joe, I was pulling for him vs. Zhang & voted that the outcome would be a decision win for Parker. It was a pretty good bout. Joe showed resilience after both KDs and deserved a UD not an MD. Glad to see the deserving fighter win. He's earned some big upcoming fights.
In all honesty, I expected him to beat Joyce with ease. After he got destroyed, I wrote him off but admit I was very wrong. Parker is a fantastic fighter and I would pick him to beat Joyce in a rematch. Parker represents boxing well.
That would make him a prospect not a contender. He may well be a tough fight for anyone, but he hasn’t really fought anyone to say one way or the other.
1. USYK 2. FURY 3.A. JOSHUA 3.B. PARKER Honestly I think a rematch between Joshua and Parker is one of the best fights to make in boxing right now. Parker has looked great in b2b wins against heavy hitters as the underdog. Very impressive.
Parker’s resurgence is what makes boxing a great sport to follow. His comeback has been the most impressive news in the sport.
In a way it’s a shame that his performance was overshadowed by the main event. I hope we can go back to keeping different sports separate.
