Usyk is 6'3" and 225 pounds - bigger than just about every other era except the 2000s.

"A good big man will always beat a good small man" - we have this saying for a reason, and generally it is true.

Exceptional talents sometimes come along that beat the rule. But they are rare.

Today's MOBILE SHWs rule over every other era. And many past "great" HWs would be in the Cruiserweight div today. - Would not stand a chance in HW.

This is all very obvious if you take your rose glasses off.

I didn't say he ducked anyone, only that he is unproven against modern sized heavies.

    Cool.

I just don't see anything special in Parker outside his will, which all elite fighters possess. Sonny had a wow factor in that jab, in his power, in his combos. He projected power way out in front of him and could crank it down to the inside. And everyone of note who faced him commented on how ridiculous that power was.

I agree that he was a great fighter for his era. But most of the guys he dominated aren't as big as the cruisers Usyk beat. That is just reality. If people believe in his greatness so much that they think he would be able to compensate, then I respect that. I just feel that he was a great fighter for his era and I leave it at that.

So, how did the fighters get bigger over 60 years? Evolution doesn't work that quickly. The species didn't change. So, what factors created this increase? Mike Tyson was tiny. Holy was a blown-up cruiser. Toney, Byrd, Povetkin, Ruiz... hardly giants.

    Compared to today

    Liston was a midget

    And gets pulverized

So, would you pick guys like Holmes, Frazier, Tyson, Holyfield to be beaten by Parker? Hell, I thought Andy Ruiz beat him and that guy is just a fattened up cruiser.

    In case you hadn't noticed

Parker has changed completely as a fighter since 10 years ago

He has utterly changed his game in the last few years - across the board

Well no, they all proved themselves against much bigger guys.

Nor did I say I think Liston couldn't compete today-- only that all we know for sure is that he can dominate a smaller era. I clearly said that I respect people who extrapolate that he could beat bigger fighters.

For the record, I am very impressed by Joe, and I think that our friend Seamus has missed out on the fact that he does have some very good boxing skills.

    It is just like Rugby

50 years ago there were virtually no Samoans or Fijians in the top of the sport

Now these Samoan giants are everywhere.

Boxing is the same - with the big Eastern Europeans, Samoans and so-on.

Plus we are all eating better - and average heights are climbing everywhere

I think Parker is getting a bit overrated now fair play to him for turning his career around but I think his recent wins have flattered him.

Bakole had 24 hours notice and went down from the first hard punch he also looked awful in his recent fight.

Wilder was past it gun shy and no longer throws his right hand anymore after Fury beat the prime out of him.

Zhang was a good win but he's old and Parker was also down twice and let's be real Zhang virtually has no stamina in the 2nd half of the fight and Kabayel did a better job on him recently.

I like Parker he has a good attitude and is willing to fight anyone but he's not on the same level as Liston, Frazier, Ali, who would all beat him convincingly.

And I don't always extrapolate, but in Liston's (and Louis') case, I do.

Do you think today's pampered babies could fight 7 times a year with little to no fight film on each opponent, no "supplements", no candy-ass treatments, hyperbaric chambers, stem-cell treatment, private jet transport, paid chefs and nutritionists, pampered fight camps, limited recovery/healing between fights?
