Yes, thank you and agreed. This is what I was getting at, my definition of being "proven" doesn't mean the only worthwhile fight is the unicorn best ever... who at any given point depending on who you talk to could be Fury (and no one else counts), Klitschko (and no one else counts), Wilder/Joshua/etc. In the real world Parker isn't getting much resistance and while he's not fighting the elite he HAS fought people who would start slowing you down if you weren't anyone other than someone capable of fighting SOMEWHERE in the top 20 imho. How far has yet to be proven, but he's heading in the right direction.

Agreed with this too, but "overrated" when its a minority of fanbois who say Joshua/Parker are practically TBE is a bit off. As far as I can tell on here, the general consensus view of Parker is actually UNDERRATED by my eye - often rated below or even well below Dillian Whyte, Hughie Fury etc etc.

Realistically Joshua vs Whyte is the first measure of the prospects against each other which will be meaningful and at this stage I feel a bit like from his previous fights I've seen (I admit not many, but I have definitely watched more than just highlights) Whyte is one of the less well rounded prospects but definitely with legit power.

I have to confess I did partly make that post re: Meehan knowing I'd be pulled up on it with good reason, but he's floating in just the right area that it was a discussion point... and I want more discussion on Parker so it was a little bit of a pot stir ;) It worked, though - and I don't take it back because I think it's about time he starts getting a bit more attention as I suspect in 2016 he'll start having fights people should be watching.

I hope you're right and 2016 is a big year for Parker. I'd hate to see such an exciting fighter frozen out and unable to make meaningful fights because of his lack of promotional and financial clout.

Maybe more than a very good prospect.

But certainly yet to be proven at the highest level.

Me too, and I have genuine concern about the promotional and financial clout. It'd suck heaps if HE has the potential but his promoter can't give him the chances he needs.

So far Team Parker have stuck to their word and this year did end up with the amount and kind of fights they said it would, they have said next year they'll continue fighting in NZ which I am NOT pleased about... their angle is they want the fights to be shown during prime time TV hours in North America, and against top ten ranked/known fighters.

    We'll see.

The WBO say this strategy should work.

I hope so. 2016 is so important for JP.

As a New Zealander, I like the fact they are trying their best to keep as many fights in NZ. Many will say, it limits the ability to get fighters down here, but to be fair to them, they have excited a nation that has someone to cheer on in boxing. It's been a long time between drinks since we got to cheer on Tua in his prime, Duco know this, and even though they get stick about taking PPV dollars, they are doing a good job taking the Joseph Parker tour around the country (and to Samoa).

April 2016 will be the test. I'm still picking Ustinov as 1st pick with backup being Matteo Modugno- boxrec- 531388

Fingers crossed it's Ustinov as Modugno looks like a European equivalent of Daniel Martz.

I disagree. I think Meehan is still fundamentally sound enough, and fit to outbox a crude one dimensional slugger like Leapai. You're right triangle theory doesn't work. Walker was beating the absolute **** out of Leapai, pot shotting him and boxing circles around him. Clearly the more skilled fighter of the two but as it goes with Walker his weak chin and heart let him down.

Ustinov is a great choice for an NZ fight.

He could very well be Parker's April bout.

He is only 6'3-6'4 rather short by modern standarts... Wilder, Fury, Klitschko, Joshua are all at least 6'6.

6'0-6'4, 190-220 lbs guys are guys of the path right now. Tall boxers rule.
