Parker fought the 6ft 7 and 254 pound Alexander Dimitrenko only 2 fights ago.

Parker knocked Dimitrenko down twice in the 1st. Twice in the 2nd and finished him in the 3rd.

Parker also stopped the 6ft 7 1/2 and 250 pound Daniel Matz in the 1st round about a year and a half ago.

There's 2 for you and there may be others.

At least check before making claims that are incorrect.

 

He may turn into a 6'4' version of Tua lol. That would be scary...

 

Since when was size in boxing determined by height?

I mean, Wilder had to bulk up from cruiserweight after turning pro in his 20s, how is he some huge super heavyweight? Height and reach are valuable commodities but they are not synonyms for "size".

 

I do agree that Parker is hittable and has question marks over his stamina/workrate.

I think his future against top opponents is largely dependent on his chin (good signs so far but I think it will need to be extraordinarily good for him to survive against Wilder or Joshua with how often he gets hit) and his willingness to take a shot to deliver a shot. Against Takam and Ruiz he was quite cautious and tried to outbox them, only narrowly doing so (I do believe he won both fights though, competitively but quite clearly). In retrospect I think he could have been more aggressive in both fights. He tried to box on the back foot a lot, perhaps thinking it was the right thing to do against shorter opponents.

If he has the great chin that I hope/suspect he has then I can see a way for him to win against the top guys, but he'll need to be coming forward and letting his hands go with calculated aggression and he'll definitely need to be able to eat at least a few huge shots.

Unfortunately, even as a Parker fan, I wouldn't like to see him fight AJ at present. I felt distinctly disappointed by his performances against Takam and Ruiz. Both fights were good in the sense they presented Parker with stiff challenges from which he no doubt gained a great deal of experience. However, I thought he looked seriously vulnerable and I fear that vulnerability would be ruthlessly exploited by Joshua who I agree would likely inflict major damage. There are a couple of factors that give me hope however. 1. That Parker is two years AJ's junior, therefore a comparison with the Joshua of two years prior is fairer and 2. I have a sneaking suspicion Parker over-trained for both his last two fights and entered the ring jaded and or sore. There was talk about sore elbows after the Takam bout and I thought it odd at the time how low his hands were for most of that fight. He's had a busy few years, perhaps we was simply a bit worn out. I think it's quite possible Parker has more potential than either of those fights suggest which makes it all the more disappointing that Fury bailed. Barry and Parker have both talked about tweaks to their camps and I'm hoping with the R & R that followed the Ruiz fight, we might see a sharper and more dangerous JP in future. Personally, I'd love to see him tackle Wilder who I suspect is eminently more beatable than AJ.

 

Parker's actually fairly lean for a Samoan (though that may be due to age; he looks to be filling out in true fashion recently). He doesn't have the ridiculous definition of either Wilder or Joshua, but he's easily their equal in strength and explosiveness, perhaps their superior in the latter category.

His lack of height isn't going to be an issue. It's only a couple of inches, and that's never been a huge deciding factor in how hittable an opponent is. His problems are all going to be down to stylistic issues and are, potentially at least, things he can improve upon.

Parker has never faced a power puncher but has been shook by guys that have zero power. He is samoan so is likely to be tasting the canvas. The only samoan with a remotely decent chin was Tua but I still have vivid memories of him being iced in the 1st rd by Felix Savon. Incidentally Tua would have ko'd Parker in a couple of rds. NZ is a boxing minnow and doesn't have the promoters managers and trainers to produce a hw of any standing. Duco is a goldfish swimming amongst sharks that's why they called in Arum to bail them out. Parker should have started his career in the US with a decent trainer and promoter. I'd rate him fringe top 10 and that's about as far as he will ever go.

 

Wooh lighten up as that can easily be interpreted as a racist remark. Its also inaccurate as some Samoans have proven to carry a good chin (e.g. Tua, Mark Hunt). Tua didnt have a 'remotely decent chin' as you put it, his chin throughout his many fights in his prime, was well recognised by opponents and purists that it wasnt even remote.

You say hes been shook by guys who have zero power, I dont think hes fought anyone with zero power lol but I get what you mean. Yeah he may have been 'shook' as you say but he hasnt been clearly wobbled or knocked out, thats the one thing Parker hasnt shown that Wilder and Joshua have. Thats the case so far and Im not saying Joe cant be knocked, Im just saying he really hasnt been knocked or wobbled even in his biggest fights.

 

Before the Wlad fight Parker was a distant second in a fight with Joshua.
After AJs performance Vs Wlad, Parker is a no hoper if they square off!

Joshua took power punches off Wlad throughout the fight and for the most part they had no effect, the right hand that put him down has ended many a fighter in the past and seen many more laid unconscious or totally unwilling to get up. Even that right hand, which landed when Joshua was fatigued and vulnerable due to him expending everything in an effort to finish Klitschko in the 5th, didn't totally render Joshua senseless as he still had enough savvy to keep out of trouble and finish the round.

Parker quite simply cannot hit AJ with anything as powerful as those shots which Klitschko was landing and has nothing near the power of that Wlad right hook, therefore he can't stop him.

Joshua went to war in an energy sapping bout with a supreme fighter and still had the power to knock out his opponent in the 11th round.

On the other hand, Parker has never been hit with the kind of power that Joshua has and while Parker has a warrior spirit that serves him well in many of his fights it would be his undoing against AJ who also loves to go head to head.

I like Parker, he's honest and fierce and has great skills but he's outmatched in all departments against Joshua.

 

I'd like to see Parker fight Bellew in the UK, then fight Joshua after it if he wins.
