Wlad's sparring partner a young New Zealander. I like this kid! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAZJDnsInl4
I love the fact I get chances to see him fight here in NZ as we don't get much top division heavyweight action in this part of the world, but I think he's at the point he should be travelling and fighting more people in the US and Europe to get his profile up a bit - unless his handlers are trying to get him enough ring experience etc that he just shows up with a huge bang and hope it's noticed? He has finished at the Klitschko camp (Wlad said some nice things about him after too) and is now training for a fight coming up June 13th, then has another in August 1st... would be nice if they sorted/announced opponents to see if he's going to finally be tested a bit.
They are moving him along quite nicely but maybe to quickly. His opposition is about right but the problems with these regional titles you can move up the rankings crazy quick and be inline to verse good fighters who are far more seasoned than you. Though that worked out awesome for Alex Leapai. But I think he is in decent hands over there, they will have him fighting often against known journeymen with positive records for a few more fights before he steps into risky territory.
The Nascimento fight exposed a few flaws ,after flooring him Parker got a bit right hand happy ,and I thought his corner should have told him to go back to working the jab and using the hook , but he is a youngster still. The sparring with Wlad should have been a big benefit to him. It isn't just about getting a title 'shot,[an unbeaten run against journeymen can give you that,] its about having a realistic chance of winning it when you get your chance.
More chance as the Bri'ish savior #5345 Tyson Fury, and on par with Bri'ish savior #5346 Joshua I believe. Really hope the next top HW comes from a smallish country without much boxing history just to p*ss off the Brits and Muricans for another decade.
He's definitely been impressive so far. Decent size, speed and impressive power. He also has a very fan friendly style he brings a lot of excitement to the division. But it's early days yet. He seems open to the right hand but then if he has the usual Samoan chin of iron that may not be a big issue. He's definitely one to watch out for in the future.
Unlike Tua, he has never been stopped so far Those bodyshots were terrific Wlad looked bruised after the sparring sessions with him.... :admin black eye and all
parker has potential and talent, but so many things can go wrong within the next few upcomming years: personal life, injuries, management, and so on. Boytsov is a good example. He won gold at the junior world championchip in south corea-winning all fights by way of stoppage victory...............at the amateurs. He looked like a sure bet to be a great champ at the pros, too: devastating firepower, ferocious killer instinct, determination, quick hands, and so on. Is he a super star now??? Nah! Injuries, brittle hands, bad management and horrible match making as well as an increasing lack of motivation have lead his his career to disappear into nirvana. What a waste! Parker could go the same path. You never know!
Looks promising but very early days yet. Looked after properly he may go far. Needs his chin tested too
The way he dominated and knocked out Costa Junior was impressive. He's young (23) and a talented kid and he is being brought well and I think he has a bright future.
