Why don't they try testing him in the lead up to a fight when they know where he is?

Instead of after a fight when he's on holidays.

In principle, year round, random, out-of-comp testing is the only way possible to stop athletes from using performance enhancing drugs. You either do that or just abandon the entire notion of drug testing.

Nobody uses in the lead up to a fight. The ped cycling takes places months before, when all the hard training is being done then they taper off some time before testing. This why the era of pre/post fight drug testing was a complete joke.

My brother recently retired after 4 Olympic Games. He was subjected to random drug testing 24/7 and also required to fill in his whereabouts as part of this testing.

It's just something you deal with as part of the sport. Not too sure why people are saying this testing shouldn't happen in boxing? You sign up for it, you do the testing.

It's oppressive to the point of inducing rage! These creatures can show up at your residence from 6:00 AM to Midnight unannounced and demand you provide a sample. You are also expected to be there, It is like being on parole.

All under the guise of cleaning up athletics. LOL What short sighted, self righteous trash opened the gates for these assaults on personal liberties anyway? The fat, marijuana addicted, fast food gulping, soft drink slurping sportstard fan boy who knows how everyone should live except themselves of course.

Our real enemies are not the controllers it's your stupid, know nothing neighbors, friends and drone coworkers who turn the power over to the controllers.

I'd say it's nothing suspicious so much as everything being so intrusive. This wouldn't have been an appointment thing,

It sounded like Joshua got very close to missing testing as well, again - but didn't... so much as was just caught way off guard by it being sprung on him we he had plans and had to give it all up for a mandatory blood test. I can see how it'd be easy to happen, I can understand the need to try and make sure the "clean" athlete thing can't be cheated but can also see how hard it would be to keep to and the occasional miss might happen - though they are well paid pro athletes so I guess it comes with the territory.

Well, I'd rather they abandoned drugs testing. PEDs are used to enhance performance. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

    There's another option though:
Accept that athletes will take PEDs during training and test them only at the competitions only to regulate their usage and prevent a crazy few from indulging in total abuse.
That's basically what used to happen.

Sure, but when did all the athletes in the world get a vote on the issue ?

It's just been squeezed in over the last few decades and grown to the levels it is at now. The fact that people think it's just part of the sport and perfectly natural doesn't make it so.

Why should athletes be subjected to a different standard as the rest of society ?
No one is knocking on the doors of bankers, scientists, artists, musicians, writers and CEOs etc. to take a urine sample to see if they are taking drugs to make them better at their profession.

    Absolutely correct.

The average sports fan can't even string a sentence together or get on the bus to his crappy job unless he's had his coffee/cigarette/sugar-hit in the morning ..... yet, god forbid if the hard-working dedicated athlete has the nerve to even think about touching any drug that could help him sustain his superhuman training regimen.

If you spoke to these athletes personally you'd find that they accept its part of what they do. I have random drug tests at work, I signed the contract, I deal with it.

On a side note to reaffirm my point. My brother came in 9th at the London Olympics. The 8th place getter was on drugs which was caught later afterwards. Now as part of the finals process, the top 8 get to have more throws. My brother missed out on that chance, a chance of a medal shot. If random drug testing captures more if these people, it'll make the sport a hell of a lot fairer on everyone else.

After they show up at their crappy jobs what do they have waiting for them; More donuts, coffee and a smoke break! Yet these are the ones outrages over athletes taking small doses of pED so they can recover quicker and train more often.

These hyperglycemic herd animals do not even want athletes taking multi vitamins FFS!
