Bergman came pretty well prepared though a lot of the reason he survived was to do with survival mode... including rugby tackles and taking a knee whenever Parker started getting swinging so Parker wasn't actually allowed to hit him as it would have been illegal shots. The ref finally told Bergman not to do it anymore and the fight didn't go another round from the point Bergman stopped doing it.

A few points of potential improvement definitely shown up there but definitely a very dominant performance and with 6 fights in 10 months it's clearly time for a bit of a break and regroup for the team. Look forward to seeing how the next 12 months go!

And he may have just wanted to get some rounds in.

It did look like it turned into a glorified sparring match when it became clear Parker wasn't going to end it in 3

Talking about how sometimes Joseph Parker is perceived as a relatively unknown in the sport I did some ****ytical investigating around media of him vs other similar prospects/contenders/title holders using Google. I will use the following boxers: Joseph Parker, Hughie Fury, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.

Google Search results using " (name) + Boxer "

    Joseph Parker- 490K
    Hughie Fury- 27K
    Anthony Joshua- 524K
    Tyson Fury- 697K
    Deontay Wilder- 310K

    Youtube Search using "(name only)"

    Joseph Parker- 79K
    Hughie Fury- 10K
    Anthony Joshua- 453K
    Tyson Fury- 256K
    Deontay Wilder- 87K

It's interesting that JP holds his own when it comes to Google search results with many articles, even more than current WBC HW champ Deontay Wilder. Where things get interesting is the Youtube results where Anthony Joshua seems to be a bit of a viral video star. Not surprising considering the population of the UK, and many videos of other fighters have had keywords of Anthony Joshua inbedded into the vid. Maybe the viewers just like his abs??

I suppose the reassuring thing is that JP is getting exposure online, and it would have been interesting to have done this comparison a year ago...maybe this time next year I'll look back on the numbers and see if things have changed significantly.

Hardly a scientific bit of research, but still interesting numbers coming through.

I'll go on record and say Parker will be the next man to dominate the HW division in the next 2 yrs with that being said i'm definitely ready to see Parker step up his level of compition this year

Us Kiwis have been chatting about who JP could be fighting in April in Christchurch, New Zealand. Word is it's a top 25 opponent, or at least that's what the matchmaker has been indicating for a long time. The matchmaker tends to work from boxrec rankings where talking opponent ranks.

We are stumped on who is could be, as fighters we thought would be possibilities have come and gone with other fights lined up.

    Anyone care to enlighten us?

My last post on the NZ forum:

With Hammer gone, who could Joe be fighting???

    In my head there is:

Takam- Possibly but since he is rated in the top 10 for 3 alphabets...he has other options apart from JP including Anthony Joshua for IBF.
Ustinov- Not sure if he would risk being KOéd when he is lined up for Ortiz later this year. Talk he has issues with family and is pushing back fights.
Fedosov- Seems to be a possible opponent for a number of other fighters, but it's still possible he would travel to NZ
Hughie Fury- Highly unlikely, there is talk it might be a better journeyman coming his way- maybe even Stiverne. Peter Fury won't risk Hughie against Parker.
Matteo Modugno- I bloody hope not, he isn't rated in the top 100 in Boxrec or in any alphabet. He is Europe's Martz.
Stiverne- Maybe, it gives Stiverne a chance to gain rankings if he wins, and gives JP a durable opponent with a risk element.
Bryant Jennings- I just don't see Jennings wanting to risk another loss, unless it's for a heap of cash, which Duco wouldn't offer.
Mike Perez- Seems to be a name mixed in with AJ and Haye for next opponents, but you never know, he may be the TBA.
Andy Ruiz Jr- Like Perez, you just don't know where Ruiz will pop up. He pulled out of his Jan fight most recently.

I think Duco will be pushing to get Joe against the man that 'retired' Tua. It will sell out and push the highest PPV numbers NZ has had. But like you said, that depends if Ustinov would take it...

Also, just a note, I will be ringside ;) :good

If it's a worthwhile opponent I may see you there somewhere :)
