Big step up for the lad but Botha looked very poor last time out. Real chance for him to make a name for himself.:good
Hopefully, semi-final frigging clown ref has found another hobby.........stamp collecting or similar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaFcrRSbqWs
It's a bit of step up for Parker who's last fight was against Tutaki, I hope he gets Botha out of there fast.
"I'm not going to wait around for Sonny to make up his mind about a rematch. I don't trust anything that camp says so I'm more than happy to smash Joseph Parker up in the meantime." - Frans Botha. http://www.odt.co.nz/sport/boxing/252307/boxing-botha-lines-new-kiwi-foe
Jesus Christ he would miss the envelope if he tries stamp collecting. Has he ref'd boxing? The honour system would be better than him.
Why is everyone so positive about Botha (it's the same in the NZ media) when he lost probably 8 out of 10 rounds to a complete novice and part-timer in SBW? And yet at the same time, people ridicule SBW's boxing ability when he won 8/10 rounds against a former contender?
Botha looked poor??? :think Smashed SBW all over the place until they decided to call a halt and declare him the loser!!
Regardless, the guy lost pretty much 8 straight rounds to a novice! How can anyone do that and be regarded as credible, let alone seemingly have their reputation enhanced in the market where it occurred?
He smashed SBW all over the place in the 10th round after losing almost every other round. Let's not forget this occurred immediately after SBW was rattled by an illegal shot for which Botha was deducted a point. They "decided to call it a halt" BEFORE the start of the 10th round, not after. Botha knew that was the end of the fight.
He did look pretty ****, he barely threw anything for 6 rounds, controversy aside he was outboxing Botha, if they had just made it a 10 round match, SBW would been seen differently IMO and would have got some respect for his performance.
:thumbsup I hate to rehash all the old arguments about this fight, but surely we can all agree on this- that for most of the fight SBW was winning on points pretty easily. That alone should be a source of significant embarrassment for someone still claiming to be a competent boxer (unless we want to say that SBW himself is more than competent?)
