I have a sneaky suspicion that it'll be a devastating KO.

Ruiz's strength's and weaknesses are very similar to Parker's.

Both have hand speed, decent power and good chin's and even if we give Ruiz an edge in each category, as well as factor in Ruiz having a more compact defense, I still can't see him winning because he will never throw enough punches.

Ruiz doesn't have the stamina to keep Joe honest, Takam didn't bring the pressure like we expected but he still exposed Joe's stamina issues.

I can't see a ridiculously fat bloke bringing more pressure than Takam even if Takam looked a bit old in that fight.

I don't think Ruiz has really fought anyone good enough etc to test his jaw or his own resolve under pressure, we've seen more holes in Parker's game because he has fought at a high level etc.

I do think the fight will be closer than the poll suggests, but the trick with the poll is it doesn't show what the split should be - it just shows that most people if they HAVE to chose they'll choose Parker... not that Parker will walk through Ruiz like butter. I think Takam probably is much more defensively effective and a trickier fighter as a complete package, though offensively Ruiz is probably better which is part of what makes this fight really interesting. I doubt Ruiz would be able to sustain the come forward pressure that Takam did into the late rounds.

It will be a very interesting fight!

From the perspective of someone who badly wants Parker to win, the latest pics I've seen of Ruiz worry me a bit - he's looking in better shape than I've seen him before... at least with clothes on he is looking like someone who has been working out, albeit FAR from a Joshua etc type but yeah. He's not coming to NZ to **** spiders.

I'm glad Ruiz looks to be in better shape.

    Should be a WAR then!

Yeah. This really could end up being a HW fight of the year contender. Some might think that's sad, which is a bit stupid - people seem to have got in their head that you always need ATGs fighting... realistically this IS a quality heavyweight match between two clearly clean fighters who aren't being dickheads.

This is good stuff, and I can't wait for the fight.

Anyone favoring or giving Ruiz a good chance needs to go back and watch his fight with Liakhovich. He faded BADLY in the 2nd half and dropped several rounds. IB had him winning by a round - I had it a draw. Hamer with giving him a lot of issues too before pulling one of his infamous quit jobs.

To be fair he's potentially going to come into this 20+lb down from that fight and in generally much better condition

He didn't look very impressive in his last fight against Franklin Lawrence either though. No matter how much weight Ruiz Jr loses it won't change the fact he has big flaws in his game.

People see his fast hands and supposed power but what they should focus on are the flaws. He has little to no head movement, after he throws he just stands there to be hit and after he throws he's wide open a lot of the time.

People expecting him to repeat what Takam did need to take a closer look at both fighters, both are very different. Takam is much lighter and more agile on his feet and has far better reach (6.5 inches) and head movement. Ruiz Jr will struggle to cut off the ring like Takam did, he's too much of a plodder to be able to reproduce even that modicum of pressure.

Also Ruiz's power is over rated. Sure he's dangerous early when he's fresh but he only stopped one opponent after the 4th round. If you look at the Lawrence fight you'll see why. The speed and snap of his punches diminishes after 3 rounds and late in the Lawrence fight he was really struggling, throwing arm punches, hands down by his waist after throwing, Lawrence was able to stand and trade with Ruiz Jr in those later rounds.

Don't get me wrong, I expect Parker to win but Ruiz is a very live opponent and the styles could make for fun watching.

Yep - maybe 3 rounds of WAR at least.

    Let's hope so.

Ducked Joshua to fight a fat slob for a vacant title. This guy is everything thats wrong with boxing today.

Tua woulda went straight for AJ , no questions asked. Take that to the bank.

Actually Parker was gunning for it. Joshua decided to go for Klitschko instead, take from that what you will.

You could say the same about Joshua fighting Martin instead of earning a mandatory for a title and fighting a proper champ... Parker has earned his position and he has already fought better opposition than Joshua. You can't suck Joshua's balls and then knock Parkers progress in the same motion

Not a bad fight. I think Parker is a clear favorite but Ruiz is an ok heavyweight and should make for a decent fight. Parker probably stops him late.

A lot of heavyweights fighting on December 10 and December in general.
