How long before Duco give up the ghost? All quiet on their end...

A decision has probably already been made. Just no announcement of it yet.

Honestly not quite sure which way this goes.

It is a shame, in my opinion, about the political football Joe's title shot turned into. Basically the government/city council were going to help with the sponsorship until they found out that most NZers were against the use of public funds.

    Then they all did u-turns.

Possibly but they missed the opportunity to promote the fight to a wider audience with the press conference that was cancelled ahead of Pac vs Vargas. Duco showing their limitations

They may have only ended up looking stupid announcing something on a big stage and then having to turn around later and announce things had changed. A golden opportunity certainly went missing though.

The Auckland City Council decision was particularly bad. Came very late and smacks of "flip-flopping" whenever a tiny bit of pressure comes to bear.

That is not leadership - and not what Auckland needs from it's new leaders.

The key word being 'new' leaders. The changing of the guard could not possibly have happened at a worse time for Duco and Parker.

Yet the Auckland council brag about the success of the Auckland 9s and how much money that brought to the city.

Ps That was a Duco event

True but it is over a weekend, brings in a few travelers from Oz, league is generally more followed as the NRL plays week in week out during the season, kiwis know the players and are happy to travel to Auckland for the event. How many will travel to Auckland from overseas for this? I think many New Zealander's may prefer to watch on PPV. Ruiz is virtually unknown in NZ outside of boxing fans.

Maybe that idiot Lonegan should take a pay cut instead of trying to make the public pay to line his pockets. Duco should take a loan like any other business has to

Phil Goff's new team should hang their heads over this.

In sport it would be called a "capitulation". Sad.

Sure looks that way. They indicated they were in and then in the 11th hour pulled the carpet from under Duco and Parker's feet. Talk about indian givers.

Duco could easily swing the Nines down to Wellington, then that'll hit Auckland.

Oh well. Water under the (harbour) bridge, I guess. Hopefully they will learn from it.
