I think they would do but I wouldn’t give Ruiz much of a chance on a good for AJ. He performed very well in 2019 but I don’t think he’s the same guy and AJ has shown he’s a considerably better fighter than him.
A lot of people thought Parker had no chance against Wilder and Zhang who both punch harder than AJ, yet he beat them both in succession. AJ has looked great in his last two fights, but the opposition there is considerably less impressive. While I agree Ruiz came into the second fight in awful shape he still beat AJ in a far more impressive manner than AJ beat him. They're 1-1, and there will always be a question mark there until AJ avenges his TKO properly. Sorry to tell you, but Parker has never been splattered by Ruiz in 7. AJ has though. It Joyce 11 rounds to grind Parker down, and he just took on two of the hardest punchers in the division and beat em. Sparring isn't fighting, and Wilder has a better resume than Hrgovic does. Besides, styles make fights. Hrgovic doesn't have the defensive ability to avoid Wilder's right hand. But we'll never know because for all of Hrgovics bark he's not fighting anyone worth a damn while Parker and Zhang are fighting twice for their mandatory spots.
Buddy don't try it. AJ already beat Parker. He already beat Joyce in 1 round in the amateurs, already beat Zhang in the amateurs and he already KO Whyte. Oh and AJ already beat Ruiz 12-0. As far as Wilder and Hrgovic goes, there is only one duxk in there and that's Wilder. He ain't fighting Hrgovic ever. You can talk as much as you like about his mouth and overrated right hand, but there is a reason he was and still is so protected.
It’s also the fact they’ve fought already and Joshua won rather convincingly. Unlike Zhang and Wilder, Joshua is younger and fresher. He’s got better fundamentals than then and is a more effective puncher (also debatable who hits harder him or Zhang). Parker is a very good heavyweight but I think with Davidson in his corner, Joshua is world class and I think he has all the tools to beat Parker. I see it being competitive until the later rounds when Joshua takes over. For me there isn’t a question mark - Ruiz has done nothing since while Joshua has stayed active and won fights. He is not the same guy as he was in 2019 - I think the majority of the top 10 would beat Ruiz.
Buddy you brought up the chin example. Now you're gonna bring up amature fights (news flash it's 2024 and they're all professional fighters now) and a safety first points win? You still haven't addressed the fact that Hrgovic isn't fighting anyone with a pulse. That's because the moment he does he's getting even more exposed than he did when he was gifted a decision against Zhang.
The question mark is between AJ and Ruiz, not what they've done since that fight. And what you're forgetting is that Parker has improved remarkably since fighting AJ last. He's beaten the better opposition (fighters who AJ isn't even willing to look at). A rematch is the very least that is owed to Parker here given how often he's forced into one way agreements. Give him a chance to avenge that loss.
It's arguable that Joshua's improved too. And I don't know about whose beaten the better competition, either... Wilder's a great win for Parker, but then Joshua beat Povetkin after Parker, and Povetkin was a better fighter than Wilder (hence Wilder ducking him) - admittedly that's a good while ago now and Joshua's last couple of opponents haven't been that special. Then you have Zhang, who's not very well proven having only beaten 1 fighter inside the top 200 - a good win, but one that's hard to gauge. Parker's definitely up there in the division (they both are), and it's been long enough that it's a fight with interesting angles - and should be competitive... So why not? In honesty, I think Joshua wins again, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be on the table - it's a better fight for both of them than pretty much anyone else that's on the table, including the ludicrously overrated Hrgovic (who doesn't seem to want to fight anyone proven).
AJ by tko because of physical and technical advantages also momentum favors AJ where I think Parker is "Due to lose" Big congrats to AJ sending a message to MMA stay in your lane hahahah that was awesome!
Fingers crossed. And that means status and attention should center on the guys who have made good fights and are currently making good fights. Not on hypejobs who are hiding on the sidelines.
My point being I just don’t think it would be competitive - I think AJ would destroy him based on their current form and activity. Parker has done but I think AJ has improved recently too. I would like to see a rematch but I would much prefer the Fury vs Joshua. Parker vs Hrgovic for the IBF belt would be a good alternative.
Parker is basically next in line for WBO though isn't he? Why should he have to fight Hrgovic for a title shot at all?
He shouldn’t have too - I was saying it’s a fight I wouldn’t mind seeing and if the IBF becomes vacant Parker deserves a shot more than AJ given his last two fights. I’m all for Parker, I’m just not sure he can beat Joshua.
It's a winnable fight for Parker with this trainer. His chin can take a bit of power and his punches are getting a lot sharper too. Still think he's quicker than AJ too which will help.
